Gold Ring on Dhanteras

Hello and namaste everyone

Happy Dhanteras to everyone. It is a festival that marks the start of the Diwali Festival and it is celebrated just two days before such a big festival of Diwali. This is the month of celebrations and there have been multiple festivals in between but Diwali is one of the biggest on the list. Today this festival is celebrated very well in India and people up to buy precious metals on this special day. I want to do it because this way I also invest in gold most of the time. My investment is emotional and I know this because whatever I have invested in the last many years is still with me and it's not easy for me to sell it back and make a profit. I think it's fine as long as I have this and gold is always an emotional investment for women in India.

So to celebrate the day I went outside and visited a jewellery shop to buy this piece of gold. This is a gold ring which I bought today and I'm very happy to own this. The price of gold is pretty much high these days and the cost of 10 grams of gold is 75,000 INR. This price is for 24 karat gold but jewellery is mostly prepared with 22 carats and there is also a making charge. Making charge is the amount that jewellers earn and I had to pay a making charge of 12% on this, Generally, this charge is linked with the design which means if you are buying something where design is the important part of the jewellery then the making charges are also going to be high.

Dhanteras marks both the start of Diwali and Dhanvantari Jayanti, celebrating Lord Dhanvantari, the divine figure associated with Ayurveda

These charges are costs that we will never recover, which is why I am trying to buy the gold which is good on the design but not excellent because if I go for that then the cost will also be high. I'm making charges between 10 to 12% is the reasonable amount and sometimes the jeweler also gives a discount on this charge. I got a discount which is not big but it's fine as long as he gave it to me. It is the regular jewellery shop that I visit mostly when I need to buy gold or silver.

So my investment on this auspicious day is done and this is also part of the celebration. The design of this ring is very good and I did not spend much time exploring many other designs. Sometimes we get to see something that is so good and unique that we like to own it without going through much and I can say that this is one of the pieces I bought in just a few minutes. It is a female ring but nowadays they also keep unisex designs. They were offering those designs also for me to check out but I was not interested the good thing about this design is that it can be slightly adjusted on the finger. So this way I'm getting the flexibility to adjust the ring size a little bit if required in the future.

Thank you so much
Stay Safe

Do you know the fact that Dhanteras has nothing to do with Dhan or Gold, it is just about Dhanvantri and Ayurveda.. :-)
