A really nice story that emphasizes the issue of power dynamics and power abuse. Nathan, who is more important in society, hits the servant for no good reason and doesn't feel bad about it. The servant is unable to defend himself due to his fear of losing his job and the power imbalance between them. The story also touches on the theme of arranged marriages and the consequences of forcing someone into a relationship they do not want. Shirley is unhappy about being forced to marry Nathan and is able to stand up for herself, but the servant is worried about the potential consequences for himself if he gets involved. Overall, the story shows how important it is to stand up for yourself and speak out against wrongs, even if it's hard.

Thanks for your constructive comments.
Power tussle and abuse is prominent among power holders.
Here, the prince, Nathan wants to keep the lady he was betrothed to and to do that, he has to abuse a commoner.

However, the lady wants someone else.
