Discovering Stausee Kleine Kinzig Lake, Germany
Hello everyone, we set off on new adventures on a new day. We slept well, we tried sleeping in our vehicle for the first time and it was amazing. We sat in the sun, had breakfast and moved on to another location. We parked near Freudenstadt and started heading toward a beautiful lake called Stausee Kleine Kinzig.
We found a parking spot in the forest and continued down this path. The temperature was about 25 degrees Celsius. We walked about 11 km throughout the day. Along the way, we saw some lovely rest areas. There are a few benches located a bit higher up from the path. These benches have an amazing view of the lake. They've placed them at points facing the lake, so travelers can sit, maybe have a snack and enjoy the view of all these mountains and the lake. We were in high spirits, singing songs as we continued on our way.
We noticed how interestingly the grass in the mountains was trimmed. It looked like someone had combed it, the moss and grass were cut to the same level and looked neat. On the right side of the road, there is a lake down below and this path circles around it. Unfortunately due to the trees, the lake is not very visible from a distance. There is a path that leads directly to the water, but swimming and lighting fires are prohibited because drinking water is sourced from here.
The lake is quite large and spreads over a vast area. From a distance, we could see part of the lake, so we went down and walked around it. The reflections on the lake were as clear as the sky. It's a big area and there was a mushroom-shaped structure in the distance, with swans swimming next to it. Looking toward the other side, there were houses.
Lakes rarely freeze here, so there's plenty of water. According to an interesting fact I read, there's a tunnel underneath this dam. The water is purified here and then distributed as clean drinking water to cities and villages.
It's fantastic to have such a large lake in the mountains for drinking water. It's a pretty long and wide bridge and I didn't see any beach where someone could swim. Yes, swimming is prohibited here. From this point, we could see the lake's structure better.
We spent some time by the lake and then returned to our vehicle. After a walk, it’s so nice to lie in the sun, have a cup of tea, snack on something and then continue on our way. This year, the winter was mild and spring has just begun, but mushrooms have already appeared. It's surprising but true. We took a break and then set off again. Along the way, we encountered small streams flowing into the lake we had just visited. These are beautiful places and the water brings a sense of vitality.
Witnessing nature's blossoming this year has been wonderful. The forest air, the birds singing and a gentle breeze, everything makes us happy. We continue on our way, singing songs and the day is going great. Music, joy, laughter and a pleasant walk. We had a three-day holiday and enjoyed nature.
As we continued down the road, we encountered a lizard. We thought we should be cautious, but it seemed to be basking in the sun. I touched it with a flower and it moved a bit. Yes, this lizard is alive, but we need to be careful.
There are small streams and creeks around us, all flowing into the lake that provides clean drinking water. The water is clear and soothing. Nature is wonderful, filled with mountains, forests and clean water sources. This year, we're enjoying the beauty of the nature around us.
We continued on our way and came across a forest cabin. This cabin was built in 2011. We peeked inside. It has a nice design, with space to shelter from the rain. You can look outside through the windows. It’s built with sturdy thick logs and looks quite interesting. It’s like a cabin from fairy tales. Everything around us felt magical and tranquil.
However, the benches were too narrow to sit comfortably. Sleeping there would be hard, maybe it’s just suitable for sitting and having a chat. There’s a sheltered area to protect from the rain. A log has been placed under the window, serving as a bench. It’s like a cabin from forest stories. But we had to continue on our way because we needed to start preparing for dinner.
As we walked, we came across an amazing tree. Its roots weren't in the soil but just protruding from rocks and its height was incredible. The will to live is amazing. A little further down, there’s another cabin, but this one is closed and locked. This might be an area used by forest authorities. There's a chimney on top. There’s a water source here, but there’s very little water. To prevent chairs from rotting, they’ve hung them up high. A creative solution.
We walked through beautiful places with bird songs accompanying us. We still had a few more kilometers to go. We were careful to follow the path because we could stray off the route, leading us to different places. We descended to cross a stream, but the rocks were quite slippery. We had to be cautious. We didn't get lost in the forest, we just found a new path. Then we climbed up, which was a bit challenging, but we managed.
When we got to the top, we encountered a few different path junctions. We had to decide which direction to take. We chose the road leading to our car because it was getting dark and sunset was approaching. We thought we should move faster now. We didn’t want to get lost in the forest in the dark. We were singing songs along the way and were in high spirits. We saw white flowers along the roadside, they were quite beautiful. We reached the end of our journey. We returned to our vehicle and started preparing dinner.
