Using Another Person As Metric
Growing up and becoming an adult I have come to realise that a turning point in my life is realising that I can no longer continue to blindly follow someone because I think they are more successful than me or they more advanced than me. Or should we use because I think they are further in the game? Growing up I thought all adults were smarter and got their lives together. I thought there was a certain age all adults are supposed to reach they become smarter and have their lives figured out. I thought my parents, uncles and older people around me were the smartest people I know.

It’s always assumed or expected that we trust the judgement of people that are successful, or people that are older because we feel they are further in life. For instance, if I saw the tweet of billionaire giving a well detailed financial advice I will be so invested in the advice and make sure I take and apply those advice in my life. But if I saw the same advise or heard the same advise from a less successful person I won’t waste my time listening to that advice. Just like taking life advice from a 12 year old, it feels unreal because they haven’t lived that long in life to be giving advice. But have you noticed that sometimes you make your life harder by following other people’s directions?
For instance, a man could make $100 Million from gambling or lotto and become $100 Million more successful than you and start giving gambling advice and you will find a lot of people gambling and burning their money and time gambling because they also want to win $100 Million, forgetting that gambling and lotto is all about luck. Your financial success could not be anything related or close to gambling but because you are following another person’s direction you want to make it there too.
