Starknet Wallets: Argent & Braavos

Starknet is a layer2 of the Ethereum chain, just like every other layer 2 they offer to be more scalable, transparent and offer my privacy through being a Zk roll up layer 2 network. But honestly, it’s hard to keep up when almost every week same blockchains but different brand name and logo get released promising the same thing and doing the same thing. So I am just focused on exploring the chains and hoping for an airdrop. I have been interacting on the Starknet chain for more than 10 months now, its native token STARK is not yet out or launched but the mainnet was launched since 2022.

Unlike other Ethereum layer 2 roll ups where you can use them and interact with them on EVM wallets like Ethereum, Coinbase wallet, Trustwallet etc, you can’t use the same wallets to interact on the with Starknet, you need Starknet wallets like the Argent and Braavos wallet.

If you want to get Starknet ETH you can either get it through OKX exchange, or you can bridge your ETH from Metamask to Argent or Braavos using the official Starknet bridge, or you can use orbiter bridge. But I bridged native ETH from my Metamask to Argent and Braavos using the official Starknet bridge. Just to have some few points should incase it’s a e required point for an airdrop.

But there are few things you need to know about Starknet wallets, if you have the argent mobile wallet, you don’t need seed phrase for it, with your email address you can open an argent Starknet wallet. No seed phrase, no private keys, but if you get argent wallet extension on your computer, it comes with a seed phrase and private key.

On Metamask you can use the same seed phrase and private key on different EVM wallets and still have the same wallet address, but unfortunately you can’t do that with Starknet. Your seed phrase on argent wallet extension when inputted on Braavos wallet both on the mobile wallet and PC wallet extensions, you will have a different wallet address.
