Money Can’t Buy You Happiness

Have you noticed that people that people that make this statement the most are the rich people? Have you ever tried to wonder why they think so? Sometimes you see a new report on some billionaire or millionaire commit suicide because they were depressed. Regina King, the famous American actress’s son committed suicide some years ago because he was depressed allegedly, and he was the only son of Regina King who is a big time actress and rich as well. A rich South African rapper about 2 years ago committed suicide because he was depressed, and when people want to report the news they always start by stating his financial status meaning he was wealthy, why would he commit suicide.

But when a poor man commits suicide, more people can understand that because being poor can be really depressing because of the struggle of constantly trying to survive financially. But they don’t know that, money truly can’t buy you happiness, any one saying that money can buy happiness is saying it from a place of lack. Lack is an unpleasant place to be at, but the presence of lack makes us appreciate abundance when we get it. But the constant state of abundance doesn’t guarantee happiness, it can guarantee gratitude but won’t guarantee happiness.

Let’s imagine for a second that you were born into wealth, and you had access to everything you ever wanted. If you wanted the biggest toy in the shop you are having it, if you wanted all the ice cream you are having it, if you wanted to fly in a helicopter you are flying in an helicopter. Whatever money can give you have been having it all all your life, it’s a lifestyle to you. Do you think that person will think and say money can buy happiness when they have truly not experienced lack before? The happiness that poor people think money can buy is a lifestyle to the rich hence doesn’t make them happy, just as you see living with electricity as a lifestyle, someone in a remote village who hasn’t seen electricity all their life will also tell you that electricity is life when they have a tiny touch of it.
