Linea Chain High Gas Fee Is Unnecessary
Well, being pissed is not what I say I feel right now, but rather disappointed and huge feeling of regrets. Lots of chains have launched on EVM, they are layer 2 platforms on the EVM chains that claim to help solve the Ethereum scalability issue and also reduce the gas fee rate. But honestly speaking at this point the only layer 2 chain that is really close to achieving this Optmism. Optmism is fast and very cheap. With less than $3 I can do more than 10 transactions on the Optmism chain. But today I just spent $30 in gas fees transacting on the Linea chain.
At this point they are just doing too much and creating unnecessary layer 2 chains. Everyone was complaining about the Ethereum gas fees, it’s ridiculous to pay over $2 as gas fees for a single transaction. This makes calling these chains the future of finance ridiculous, because how can you pay over $2 for a $0.5, how can you casually make payments with these chains. You can’t buy a cup of coffee and pay huge amount for gas fees. So in terms of everyday tangible purchase with Ethereum, Ethereum has failed in that aspect, except you are making large amounts. Few days ago someone paid per 40 BTC for gas, I don’t know what sort of mistake was that. But again this just shows how Bitcoin and Ethereum are failing in gas fees aspect towards being the future of finance.
It’s really painful that Hive is hugely under utilized because the 0 fees we get using Hive is under appreciated. I couldn’t help but wish Linea chain had cheaper gas fees because I hate the fact that I have to stop using a chain because of the gas fees. I wanted to interact with the Linea chain for the retroactive airdrop, but at this point at think the Linea devs are farming people for the gas fees because it doesn’t make sense anymore. Doing 100 transactions in the chain paying over $2 for gas means you will spend $200 on gas. How much airdrop do you think Linea will drop. These are the risks involved when hunting airdrops.
