Deciding When It Is Enough And Understanding it

avatar

For a long time in my life I can’t seem to know when its enough when trying to accomplish something, you know that feeling when you love dong something and you set a goal to achieving things on that interest you have. Sometimes we get carried away we forget to know when its enough, this can be found in everyone that loves dong what they do. Take a look at musicians, they can’t stop singing, they want to make all the songs in the world, if you are an artist, you will be so obsessed with making so much arts you will want to make all the arts in the world, sadly you can’t, tat is because its not possible. Same thing is found in money and the pursuit for financial freedom, especially when you love doing what you do.

Have you ever encountered a business man who loves doing business? Not a second will go by without them trying to sell you one thing or the other. I’m sure you can relate because at some point you have realised you are also in this shoe. For instance when I am writing my post on Hive, I struggle with myself to decide when the article is enough. The post might just be a little message, but because we dont want to make it look too short, we have to write more but when does it get enough? Same goes with when you have a lot of things to talk about but dont want to make it too long. Same goes to setting your financial goals, something becomes enough when you accept within you that its time to stop. Lets take money for instance, when do we stop making money, some people say when they get extremely wealthy, they would stop work. Yes they would stop that work but can they stop making money? Most people dont love there job but they can’t stop because of the money, the moment they get wealthy, they just look for an easier comfortable and convenient way to make money, because making money can not be enough. This is why there is a retirement program, even after the retirement, we still see people venture into other money making scheme.

It just doesn’t stop until nature comes to intervene with old age, even at that some people still don’t stop, so here lies the question, when does it stop? In my opinion I think it has to come from a place of self discipline and deciding for yourself when its enough. Deciding and realising that trying to get all the accomplishment in the wold is impossible and you will fail, the best thing to do is appreciate your accomplishments, understand the impossibilities of having everything and embrace the feeling of enough, this will make you see life from a better perspective. Its good to work hard but its also good to enjoy the moment and decide when its enough, because at the end of the day we are still just humans.

True, man doesn't stop chasing until nature comes to intervene, before I was finding it so odd but it is true, one only chase and keep chasing, as far as he/she is alive.
This is an inspiring article. thank you for saying this @readthisplease

The truth is nature would come but even then, it'll surprise a lot of people that nothing would still be enough. As times are changing, so are we.

I think that's basically it. Being disciplined and choosing to decide when to stop. It's good to practice contentment because it's literally never enough. It's near impossible to satisfy human emotions.

I agree with you. It depends on our area of focus though. What you focus on makes you

Absolutely, it molds your view and perspective about almost everything. I think in some cases this is needed

But that is really how the world works. In fact, that is one essential law of value. Nothing is ever enough. We need to keep learning and growing, getting better with the times to still remain valuable and essential to society. Once we feel it is enough, that is when we stop being relevant. Ever heard of the "You never stop learning" slogan? There is something else. "You never arrive. The day you arrive is the day you die".

I personally think it is never enough. I also personally believe that we need to keep pushing because the times constantly change and so, accomplishing a lot is never enough. Like a wise man used to say, "there is so much to do and very little time."

Well truly truly there's really no time a person can really day they have achieved everything they wanted and this is the ending point. But definitely coming to agreement with oneself that it okay to sit back and enjoy and analyse that it's enough at this point it another turning point of rest for us as humans 🥰🥰🥰

I think our lives naturally try to push us in a good direction and we often know when it's time to take a new path or change behaviors.. For some it's hard to trust themselves and listen, but we do tend to know.

You are so right, this is where the discipline comes to play, some people know but are not disciplined enough to change
