Today I have the pleasure of participating in the contest proposed by this great community full of such kind and altruistic people, imbued with positive attitudes and a willingness to help others, in which they invite us to develop a creative project using the technique of " Patchwork”, that is; It is about joining scraps or pieces of fabric through different techniques to compose more elaborate objects or elements.

Congratulations! These last days I have done a lot of work with fabrics and the truth is that I do not like to discard any of the leftover pieces because I knew about this technique and I knew that at any time I would be encouraged to practice it. I had always seen works with this popular technique, I tell you that in one of my previous posts I tried to do something trying to join pieces of fabric, but when I started, I realized that it was something super difficult, especially if the pieces of fabric are very small. , a very precise technique and above all with specific measures or figures to obtain what you want, that's why I made some protectors but with very large measures hahaha. Well, the truth is that I don't know what is really difficult, the technique or the fact of not having a sewing machine and using it by hand! 🤭

In those days I had had an accident and I had hurt my hand so I had it bandaged to relieve the pain and it is curious that a day later, I find the announcement of this great contest, it was as if something told me... —You must try again! Hahaha.... This is how I armed myself with a lot of positivism, patience, creativity and emotion to give life to my pieces of cloth and be part of this contest, so I decided to make a nice bag that I needed a lot, to go shopping. So without further ado, I invite you to see how I did it and accompany me until the end of each step. Come on!!!

(PROCEDIMIENTO)

To elaborate the patchwork technique it is important to know that any piece of fabric can be used, but it is important that when you choose what to do, the texture of the fabric you use is as similar as possible and With much resistance, I chose pieces of poplin fabric for my project; a durable, fresh, comfortable fabric with a stiff touch that does not wrinkle easily. To start, cut different figures of fabric, using different colors and designs. I also used my work table that has a rectangular shape as a guide for the size of my bag, so I placed the pieces of fabric filling all the spaces of my table as if it were a puzzle. Then little by little I began to sew the backs of the pieces of fabric together, following the design I had put together on my table.

This is how the first part of my bag turned out, after putting all the pieces together. By then I had distracted my mind so much that I didn't feel pain in my hand, I think it served as therapy hahaha.

Now what I did was take two larger pieces of fabric but that were the same size as the other part of the bag, I joined them with a seam to get the inside of my bag and so on make it more resilient.

Then I took both parts, placed them one on top of the other and folded them in half to sew the edges of the sides together with a strong seam. I made a seam in the shape of an armhole for a better finish. I made a triangular seam in the corners to shape the bag.

Now I turned it over and continued by cutting a long plain strip, folding it in half and sewing all the way around the top of this bag, like a waistband.

Again I used the same fabric to cut another long strip and sew the edge together. Then with the help of a toothpick we turn it so that said seam was inside. We cut this piece in half to obtain two handles of the same size. We take them and sew them to our bag. For my part, I made them a bit long because I would like to wear it to the size of my shoulders.

Very carefully I opened two small holes (eyelets) and inserted a cord with the help of a hair clip to fasten the bag. Then I sewed on two nice buttons to decorate it and make it more eye-catching.
