The lost hero
As the sun rose on the horizon, it became clear what had happened that Mr. Adele was gone forever. This is the worst nightmare everyone doesn't want to believe, especially those who saw him the day before his disappearance. Mr. Adele was a farmer in Ikirun village, a well-known farmer, who had large hectares of land where he cultivated his farm products. He is known to be a rich man because several people come from towns and neighboring villages to buy his farm produce. Aside from being a farmer, he was also a hunter, he loved going into the bush to hunt games (animals) for his family's consumption. Mr. Adele is very humble and jovial, which makes everyone love him both young and old.
He was also a philanthropist, he lent the other villagers money to start a business and he is known for his slogan "Live a good life, you only get the chance once". Each time little children saw him, they would shout at the top of their voices "Live a good life, you only get the chance once", he would smile and gift them anything good he had on him at that time. There are days he will spend the night at the small hut he built on his farm whenever it's too late to return home. Mr. Adele had a wife and three children, a male and two females, they were all respected in the village because of their father's good deeds. They always receive favors from other villagers because of their father's large heart, his children are in their teenage ages and this makes other children in the village want to associate with them.
Ikirun is a very peaceful village, with no report of evil of any kind, neighboring villages sometimes relocate to Ikirun when their villages are going through one trouble time. But an unfortunate incident occurred that left Ikirun villagers devastated, it was something they never expected in 20 years to come. The disappearance of their loved philanthropist Mr. Adele was like a dream that everyone wanted to wake up from. Just like a normal day, Mr. Adele woke up early, as usual, to prepare for his daily activities, but in the middle of his preparation to go to work, he told his wife "I have a hunch not to go to the farm today". "It's tiredness due to yesterday's stress but you know you have to go because today is a harvesting day for the yam, I'm sure your laborers are already at the farm, you wouldn't want to delay them", his wife replied.
Immediately, he set out to the farm carrying the basket of food his wife made him, as he was going, he greeted everyone he met on his way and the villagers showered praises on him as usual. He kept on smiling as he walked past the footpath, this was the narrow path he had been following for years. On getting to his farm, he noticed none of his laborers had arrived, and then he picked up his little note where he always documented all his daily activities and wrote the time he arrived and all he noticed on the farm. As he was writing, he saw some footpaths, stood up to check them out, and continued writing. "Someone is trying to steal my produce, I will surely get you", he said to himself and returned to the small hut.
After an hour, he began to uproot the weeds on some of the parts of the farm while he awaited his laborers but something unfortunate happened. Suddenly three strong men appeared behind him, tied his hand, and covered his face with a piece of cloth. Mr. Adele couldn't shout for help as his mouth was being tied also as he was being led out of his farm into a vehicle waiting at the other side. After some minutes, they reached a destination and they all came out of the car with the kidnapped Mr. Adele in their custody. They took him to a dark room, uncovered his face, untied his hands, and sat him down on an old chair. He was terrified but he gathered the courage to ask them who they were and why he was being kidnapped but no one gave him a reply.
Nightfall and Mr. Adele's wife didn't see her husband, likewise, any messenger who always delivered his message anytime he wasn't coming home. But she felt maybe he didn't see anyone to send. In the morning, she awaited her husband yet nothing seemed to be happening, she went to the village head to report the situation, and immediately a search party was assembled and they all matched to Mr. Adele's farm. On getting to the farm, they didn't see anyone likewise the sign of workings on the farm, they searched the hut and found his little notebook, read it, and found out his laborers didn't come yesterday. They moved forward as they searched every nook and cranny of the farmland yet they couldn't find Mr. Adele. After so much effort, they returned home to deliver the message, which made his wife and children break down in tears.
"He told me he didn't want to go, I persuaded him to go, now see my life", his wife wept bitterly as other women were consoling her. Days turned to weeks, weeks turned to months, and yet Mr. Adele wasn't found, this left the villagers in sorrow as the return of Mr. Adele seemed impossible. His family couldn't believe they wouldn't see him again, it was their worst nightmare ever, "surely good people do not last" says one of his sons as he wept bitterly. To date, no one knows the whereabouts of Mr.Adele, the villagers believe he is dead, and his family moved on after three years of his disappearance as his wife took up the responsibility of the farm.

Hmmm truly, Yoruba proverbs says any straight tree can not leave in the forest forever maybe they is some of people in village that they didn't likes is behaviors and how is always calm to the elderly and jovia to the little one, when jealousy and hatred is in person hearts that is how they be doing to the true full person
Mr.Adele was such a good man. Maybe some people took his simplicity as a weakness.
This was a nice read, well done.
Thanks momma
Someone must have been jealous because if they didn't ask for money, only God knows what had happened to Mr Adele and where he was going.
So sad the family can have their father back while the town philanthropist is gone forever.
He was gone 4ever

The disappearance of Mr. Adele must have been a shock for the family as well as the village. Such good hearted and humble individuals are hard to find. It will remain a mystery forever indeed and much speculation will surely ensue. It is good that his farm was not confiscated and his wife can continue it operations.

Very right.
At least the wife can continue his farm, it's a pity that Mr Adele was gone forever. The family and the villagers must have felt the dissapearance of such a good man
