UPS: un giro a la cotidianidad (Esp/Ing)

Debido a las constantes fallas del sistema eléctrico que experimentamos en el país, en los apagones son comunes las elevaciones y caídas de tensión, me ví en la obligación de adquirir un UPS, una fuente que suministra electricidad y además protege los dispositivos, pues la PC, el modem y el router han sufrido con los apagones, sobre todo, la computadora, que está en riesgo de daño permanente.

Due to the constant failures of the electrical system that we experience in the country, during blackouts voltage rises and drops are common, I was forced to acquire a UPS, a source that supplies electricity and also protects the devices, since the PC, the modem and the router have suffered with the blackouts, especially the computer, which is at risk of permanent damage.

Cuando fui a las tiendas a preguntar me ofrecían un UPS de tamaño compacto, este aparato es pequeño y fácil de transportar, sin embargo, no me servía para mantener encendida la PC tras un apagón ya que su potencia y reserva estaban limitadas para cargar teléfonos y mantener activos dispositivos de bajo consumo. Por lo tanto, no era la opción que buscaba.

When I went to the stores to ask, I was offered a compact UPS, this device is small and easy to carry, however, it was not useful to keep the PC on after a blackout because its power and reserve were limited to charge phones and keep active low power devices. Therefore, it was not the option I was looking for.

Revisé el centro de la ciudad y pregunté en muchas tiendas. Tenía la idea de lo que necesitaba y el precio aproximado. Un UPS de cuatro tomas independientes cuya autonomía tenga al menos unas tres horas de tranquilidad, es decir, que me permita apagar la PC con normalidad y también suministre energía a una laptop, un ventilador recargable y a mi conexión de internet.

I checked downtown and asked in many stores. I had an idea of what I needed and the approximate price. A UPS with four independent outlets whose autonomy would have at least three hours of peace of mind, that is, it would allow me to turn off the PC normally and also supply power to a laptop, a rechargeable fan and my internet connection.

Una vez que pude ahorrar lo suficiente, busqué el aparato que necesitaba y lo adquirí, no lo veo como un gasto sino como una inversión por los beneficios que trae a mi cotidianidad. Justamente al día siguiente de adquirir el UPS se presentó un apagón en horas nocturnas, gracias a Dios mi hija estaba durmiendo, así que en cuestión de minutos le coloqué un ventilador recargable a su lado, mientras yo seguía conectada vía internet.

Once I was able to save enough, I looked for the device I needed and purchased it, I do not see it as an expense but as an investment for the benefits it brings to my daily life. Just the day after acquiring the UPS there was a blackout at night, thank God my daughter was sleeping, so in a matter of minutes I placed a rechargeable fan next to her, while I was still connected via internet.

En tanto disfrutaba de esta agradable novedad en mi vida recuerdo cuando cada apagón era un dolor de cabeza, las horas se hacían eternas soplando a la bebé con un cartón y tratando de distraerla de cualquier forma, aquella oscuridad que angustiaba se ha disipado gracias a un UPS, aparato que resulta muy valioso para todas aquellas personas que hacen vida en la red.

While enjoying this pleasant novelty in my life I remember when every blackout was a headache, the hours were eternal blowing the baby with a cardboard and trying to distract her in any way, that darkness that distressed has dissipated thanks to a UPS, a device that is very valuable for all those people who make life on the network.
