Un nuevo desafío: Terapia de Lenguaje (Esp/Ing)

En las últimas consultas médicas de Baby Bee, tanto la pediatra como el neurocirujano, determinaron que la niña ya debería pronunciar algunas palabras. Y aunque hay días que ella intenta hacerlo, permanece otros tantos sin tratar de comunicarse mediante palabras.

In Baby Bee's last medical consultations, both the pediatrician and the neurosurgeon determined that the child should already be able to pronounce some words. And although there are days when she tries to do so, there are days when she does not try to communicate with words.

Según recomendación de los especialistas, se debe propiciar el lenguaje hablado cuánto antes, dejando en segundo plano las señales, gestos, gritos y otras manifestaciones que suelen realizan los niños para pedir las cosas, expresar molestias o llamar la atención.

According to specialists' recommendations, spoken language should be encouraged as soon as possible, leaving in the background the signs, gestures, shouts and other manifestations that children usually make to ask for things, express discomfort or call for attention.

En nuestro caso, Alma se ha acostumbrado a que se le entienda a través de la señalización, lo que es un error porque entonces no sentirá la necesidad de hablar y, por lo tanto, su desarrollo será más lento. Para ayudarla en este proceso de aprendizaje, adquirimos un juguete didáctico que consta de figuras de frutas fabricadas con madera.

In our case, Alma has become accustomed to being understood through signaling, which is a mistake because then she will not feel the need to speak and, therefore, her development will be slower. To help her in this learning process, we acquired a didactic toy consisting of fruit figures made of wood.

El juguete también tiene una tabla, por delante sirve para identificar cada fruta por separado y por detrás es una pizarra. Además cuenta con unas pequeñas fichas dónde se puede observar la fruta y en su reverso debe dibujarla.

The toy also has a board, on the front it serves to identify each fruit separately and on the back it is a blackboard. It also has small cards where you can see the fruit and on the back you have to draw it.

El objetivo es que la niña asocie imágenes con palabras, a medida que vamos señalando las figuras le decimos en voz alta el nombre y además le mostramos cómo se escribe. Si bien ella apenas tiene un año, no se debe subestimar sus capacidades de aprendizaje ni esperar que tenga más edad para proceder a estimular sus sentidos.

The objective is that the child associates images with words, as we point out the figures we say aloud the name and also show her how to write it. Although she is only one year old, we should not underestimate her learning abilities or wait until she is older to proceed to stimulate her senses.

Se entiende que cada niño es distinto y aprende según sus propias experiencias dentro de su entorno, pero en el caso de la pequeña Baby Bee se debe tener presente que fue sometida a una operación, así que debemos permanecer atentos ante cualquier novedad.

It is understood that each child is different and learns according to their own experiences within their environment, but in the case of little Baby Bee we must keep in mind that she underwent an operation, so we must remain attentive to any new developments.
