There is some stigma that growth on Indonesia's netizen, that civil servant is having a very few job, some even makes a slang that civil servant which In Indonesia is translated as "Pegawai Negeri Sipil" and called as "PNS" is having the meaning of "Pagi Nunggu Sore" or "Morning waiting for the Afternoon", because that civil servant have a fery few job and often hang out on the nearest coffee shop. Especially for the civil servant that work for the "local governtment".

This stigma is hurt for me, because I work as a civil servant on the ministry, and often having a hard times due to overload of work. Sometimes we had to work till midnight, because our work is having a law consequence, and is limited by a time. Sometimes we had to work till midnight for preparing an event, or because there is the high officer is coming to our office.
Well, the theme is the benefit, why am I ended with grumbling ? Nah, that's just intermezzo about the civil servant stigma in Indonesia and how it's quite different on my Office. Now let's talk about the benefit !

Benefit of Civil Servant in My Workplace

Well, the comfort of being in safe zone till you retired is what mostly the best benefit. As we all know, the pandemic cause a massive effect for the economics, and I'm feeling very lucky to become a civil servant, because the effect is very low. Economic assurance is giving me a comfort, which is not everyone can having it. I know people out there are fighting for living, everyday, and that's why I am feeling this is the main benefit for the civil servant.
There is another benefit that I feel so good from my work place is that there opportunity to go travelling to another city for some kind of work, and we will get paid for that. Sometimes it's not much because the accomodation is already by the event creator, but the experience to travelling is a lovely one. Something that will cost a lot if I do it by myself.
Next is the opportunity for getting a connection to the other civil servant, because sometimes, things are getting complicated without any relation, includes on the administration that handled by the civil servant 😅
Last is the opportunity for getting study, with some program that accomodate a civil servant for getting formal education in order to upgrade our knowledge and soft skill. I haven't on this stage yet, but i have a will for doing it on few years ahead. I hope I could pass the exam and getting a proper schoolarship.

Things that Could Force Me Out

I think the only problem is if we are no longer able to have a will for doing something right. On an organization, sometimes we are forced to do things that are required by the order of the leader. The situation where we can't stand alone for keeping our value is hard, and if it's happened for a long period, I think it will force me to out from my curent working place. I wish it would never happened.
