Greetings friends. A few weeks ago I was exploring the coastal highlands north of Havana del Este, as part of my activities that I do in my free time to interact with nature. On that trip for the first time I found a path to reach the upper edge of the canyon of the Cojímar River.

When I showed my mother the photographs of that wonderful element of the landscape, she was impressed and wanted to see it with her own eyes, so I wanted to please her wish and took her this past Saturday to contemplate it with her eyes.

While we were there, and while we enjoyed the scenery of the canyon with its lush vegetation of striking greenery, I explained to her that this form of relief had been created by the erosion and incision of the Cojímar River in the rocky substratum of the rising ground, making a deep cut in it. She could not imagine that the small river we saw at the bottom of the canyon had been capable of such a feat, but that is how surprising nature is.

And so, observing that environment and understanding the processes that have originated it, we spent a nice and quiet time in contact with nature, while we took some pictures for memory of that beautiful experience.

Saludos amigos. Hace unas semanas atrás anduve de recorrido explorando zonas de las alturas costeras del norte de La Habana del Este, como parte de mis actividades que realizo en mi tiempo libre para interactuar con la naturaleza. En aquel recorrido por primera vez encontré un camino para llegar justo al borde superior del cañón del río Cojímar.

Al mostrarle a mi madre las fotografías de aquel maravilloso elemento del paisaje, ella quedó impresionada y con deseos de verlo con sus propios ojos, por lo que quise complacer su deseo y la llevé este pasado sábado a contemplarlo con sus ojos.

Al estar allí, y mientras disfrutábamos del paisaje del cañón con su exuberante vegetación de llamativo verdor, le explicaba que esta forma del relieve había sido creada a causa de la erosión e incisión del río Cojímar en el sustrato rocoso del terreno en levantamiento, realizando un profundo corte en éste. Ella no podía imaginar que aquel pequeño río que veíamos en el fondo del cañón había sido capaz de tal hazaña, pero así es de sorprendente la naturaleza.

Y así, observando aquel entorno y entendiendo los procesos que le han originado, pasamos un rato agradable y tranquilo en contacto con la naturaleza, mientras nos tomamos unas fotografías para memoria de aquella bonita experiencia.
