Let Them Settle First ~ loh contest #148

avatar

Firstly, I'm very happy of the kind of family that I come from. Well, we're a bit rich to an extent so my parents don't need to put some burdens on each of their children. My family is blessed with four kids and three kids are done with their first degrees and if we wish to proceed, our parents can support us with anything they have since we are working and we are making some money.

I see a lot of families that believe that once a child is done with his University education, the next thing he should do is to start bringing money to the house which does not work that way. Well, some kids may be very lucky to get jobs immediately after their University but I feel it will be good to let these kids settle down instead of just passing down those responsibilities to them.

We should let the grow. Let us help them to get to a certain point in life and by then, they may be able to cater to the responsibilities of the family. I feel it is not even good for a young and fresh graduate to begin to take responsibility of a whole family. How do they make it in life if they begin to carry so much burdens at their young age?

Please, if you are one of those who believe that a child should begin to cater to the responsibility of his family members, let's think twice. Let's think about how they will grow. Let's think about how they will become financially stable. Let's support them and at the end of the day, they will begin to pay those bills when they are settled.

I like your perspective on family and raising children.
It's important to instill good moral values into children, but in terms of their career choices and the pressures from parents, I think it's best to let a child follow their heart. <3

This Africa mentally sucks.
It's just few parents in Nigeria (maybe Africa at Large) that don't put this pressure on her children.

It is very annoying
I don't know why some parents are like that

Leaving family responsibility for a young graduate is not advisable they need to balance first just as you said

They should even allow them to start making enough first

I get your point and indeed those who still operate like this should think twice

Louder for the people at the back! 😅
I couldn’t agree more.
It’s hard to grow when there’s something blocking.
Not all parents think like this, and I think they should start to broaden their perspective.
