Ace's Weekly Battle Challenge - Grund
Introduction
Hello Everyone~
I hope everyone is doing well and fine!
It has been so long since I have attempted a weekly battle challenge and man was I excited to see that this week's card to play is Grund!!!
It isnItalic't a monster I play with often, but when I do, I use certain strategies to fully use its high-damage output!
Hopefully, everyone will enjoy and learn from the battles I shared~

Grund Review
photo from Splinterlands
Grund is an Epic Chaos Legion Monster with the Double Strike Ability from the get-go.
It gains Trample at Level 5 which is the Max Gold League Cap which is an exceptional pairing to his Double Strike and Stats.
With its overall Health, Speed, and Attack Power, this monster is a force to be reckoned with in multiple rulesets such as "Equal Opportunity", "Super Sneak", "Stampede" and "What Doesn't Kill You".
Note that its Double Strike Ability will be exceptional in the "Holy Protection" Ruleset.
However, it is also possible to fully capitalize Grund's potential by making sure it survives long enough to deal massive damage to the opposing tank.
Will I do well? (Hopefully, I'm sharing my battles afterall 🤣)
My Strategy
Ensuring that Grund can survive:
- Use Mycelic Slipspawn to Taunt Attacks
- Use Queen Mycelia's protect to give both tanks extra shields,
- Use Goblin Psychic to heal Grund.
This combo ensures that your team is not 100% reliant on magic while making full use of Obsidian the Summoner's +1 Magic Attack.
Providing Grund +1 Buffs:
- Putting a Venari Marksmith between Grund and other monsters hoping for an Opportunity / Snipe monster to kill it providing 2 of my monsters +1 Buff in all stats.
- Enjoy the show
1. Battle Share
Rule-Set: NA, 38 Mana
Watch it Here
In this battle, you can see my main Grund strategy in action: ensuring that it survives to deal as much damage as possible.
Generally, when I play Earth Obsidian Summoner, I am always tempted to build it fully on Magic which would be an issue when the opponent plays cards that fully counters magic like with the Void Ability or with the -1 Magic debuff from the Death Thaddius Brood Summoner.
The Main Highlight of this strategy is that it makes me less vulnerable to full magic counter teams.
2. Battle Share (Venari Marksrat Strat)
Rule-Set: Ferocity and Fire & Regret, 38 Mana
Watch it Here
In this battle, I was unable to play using my 1st strategy due to the "Ferocity" Ruleset which makes my Mycelic Slipspawn take double damage, but seeing the "Fire & Regret" Ruleset gave me an idea to use Venari Maskrat in an attempt to suicide and buff Grund while hoping it will survive.
Did it work? Watch and find out 😉
Conclusion
Overall a really fun challenge! This one really made me think more than the last one. 😆
It totally felt like I'm playing a little puzzle and it trains me to predict my opponent's team, which would definitely help me improve a lot as a player!
