Pigeons, ordinary pigeons (a lot of)

Sadly, there are no extravaganza birdies around me, they just not gonna happen xD but ordinary birds - thats what I have plenty! Sparrows, crows and especially pigeons always at my service and willing to pose. So, with this week's prompt 'Ordinary birds' -- I am definitely in!

feathrr.png

When I go out to the local park and don't see a single bird around - it doesn't mean that there aren't any. I pull out of the packet remains of wheat bread, drop a crust on the ground; drop another one... an immediate reaction follows: a scout pigeon arrives in. It is absolutely unobvious where it was hiding - maybe on the top of a tree, on the roof of a distant house? In any case, it wasn't visible, flew in from nowhere. Prey detected! - I drop a couple more crusts... - reinforcements arrive noisily, two or three more pigeons... and soon their activity is detected - very soon it causes a reaction in the form of a pigeons flock, who realized a free food source had appeared here. The rivalry for a fat piece starts! And in the distance theres always a handful of sparrows, who try to steal something from under the pigeons' noses.

Pigeons take a bath. (I'm still hoarding the rest pics from that shoot!)

Ordinary birds may be not that fancy... but still they allow to shoot lot of intresting scenes from bird's life. And, besides that... if you've got light on your hands - you go away with gems.

This is the shot I selected as my entry this round. It is all about the magic light, the game of glitter and reflections and thats what I like about it. Hope you enjoy my little selection, see you next time!

It is difficult to find extravagant birds to portray, however this is a very good theme that allows the easy participation of many authors. The shot you have chosen is great, I love the light and the tones.

Hace a nice week @qwerrie friend!

A simple, trivial turkey may be a luxurious model for photography! (in terms of weird birdie). But for me, a metropolis dweller, a simple turkey is a rare, unattainable luxury that I can only dream about, lol. So, pigeons and crows are my usual models... when I have a mood for birding photography, or in random cases.

Thank you for the compliment, I appreciate this a lot, always. A hot Hive !PIZZA back 🙏

You've plenty of pigeons and in my neck of the woods, we have a very similar bird that is in the same family, Mourning doves.

While pigeons are very brazen, mourning doves are very skittish, taking flight at the drop of a dime.

'at the drop of a dime' - I like this wording, sounds a nice vocabulary!
this summer my family is at our summer place, and one morning my wife witnessed a wild representative of this family, wild forest pigeon; it was size of a duck, but shy and skittish exactly like a Mourning dove you mentioned - it took off in a moment when noticed her at 15m distance... she had no time to take any photo 🙃

Ordinary birds are extremely beautiful. There is much beauty in simplicity, and I have always loved sparrows. Beautiful photographs and a wonderful lesson.

Great shots! You know how to lure the pigeons. 😀
They do pose well and can be brilliant models.
Thank you so much for your entry! First for this week.

We have plenty of pigeons here in the city, but it’s discouraged to feed them as the food that they may left behind will attract pests like rats or roaches 😂

These are nice shots and you’re able to capture a glimpse of a city pigeons’ life.

Hm, yeah... I've heard in Finland feeding gulls in the city is considered a crime (and leads to some serious penalty). That is understandable. Our neightbours strictly OBJECT to our babygirl and granny feeding pigeons from our window... cause, huh, there is even more direct and serious problem instead of pets: after they eat and digest, huh, they bravely leave something on the windowseals, a lot of. So, we stopped doing that - our neightbours were very persistent and convincing =)
I have some Hive !PIZZA and !BEER for you, guess there will be no objection to! 😛

!INDEED there is also that kind of issue. There are plenty of nearby nature reserves that pigeons may live but that’s not fun for me because I really like seeing pigeons in parks as they make the place lively 😉

Thanks for the tips 🍕 🍻
