happy caturday, or morning exercises in the nut shell

happy caturday, or morning exercises in the nut shell in photoshop

We had a great morning today: got up at 12, created some delicious oyakudon (Japanese dish from rice, chicken and soy sauce) for breakfast, then watched a great old soviet cartoon from 1970-es named 'Troubadours of Bremen city'. Then I sent my babygirl to do her homework, and before I started doing mine... theres always time for some good old procrastination, right? Remember? its Caturday today! So I snatched into my cats folder took this one and had some illegal Photoshop pleasures of playing with it. Here are the results -- now my pleasures become your pleasures.

x-processing version

natural (normal) version

vintage (faded) version

catz 1189_v3.jpg

black and white version

black and white: polarpan imitation

catz 1189_v6.jpg

black and white (out of the names) version

AS A BONUS --

This is original as it was shot; I used manual mode and did a wrong exposure. Luckily, I used raw format, which helped to save the image.

Hope you enjoyed this little trip, and this little kitty. Once again, Happy Caturday!

Its fun t play around with different styles of editing from time to time isnt it, you got some real cool versions with this one

I totally agree. it is fun, tho most of the time I dont play -- i just rush forward like a cheetah to the xpro version )))))
but b-w is another thing... more complex, you know. theres a huge field here to play and choose different approaches to get the best result.

btw, which of those you personally like more?

As for my favorites I think the vintage version is my Favorite closely followed by the polarpan imitation

MOstly I edit to try and make it look like what I saw,, or what I imagine I saw perhaps as I do bring out the colors and especially the blues often, and yes B&W ther eis so many options, i often spend more time converting an image to mono to get the right feel that I want than I do on editing a color version

thank you for commenting. intresting to know this, to know other's approaches.

my wife chose the 'normal' and 'simple black white' ones, she prefers the realistic versions, how it look liked, too.

Often I like the more realistic versions of photos but for me this shot tells a story and hence lead to the versions I liked, but thats the cool thing with art and photos each person has their own preferences

each person has their own preferences

yes, I look at it this way too. actually, this is about art. other wise it would be... like there was a piece from one novell by St.Lem I still remember, as it have influenced me. (the story was about creating robots but that doesnt matter). The creator was asked, what do you want to reach, making these robots? -- he answered: I dont know! I just know for sure that I dont want to make a 100% copy, dont want to make 10millionth thesecond copy of a human made from steel and plastic -- there already exist 10 millions, why do we need another one like this? --

do you see the analogia here? I mean we can not compete with nature that have already created it better, we just make copies... which are worse.. sometimes much worse :) we (ok: I speak about myself!) should do our best, should use our ownvision for things, and make it nice. something like that. It is always hard for me to talk about this, more abstract stuff, in English :)

now its time for some dark tasty !BEER :=)
thanks for stopping by.

Ohh yes i see the analogy I dont know the novel but it sounds interesting, you are doing well talking about it in English I do understand what you mean, I think art in any form should be about making what comes to your mind or feelings and going with that

Amazing how the same photo can feel so different after some manipulation. Nice photo of the cat too!

Each version is interesting in its own way. I prefer the natural one, but I like all of them. I like the cropped one, too, where the cat is emphasized more.

Happy Caturday!

thank you. I am glad to hear that you appreciated them in their own way. as for me, I think I am after xpro, and bw-polarpan versions.

This is a delightful shot! Love it! I think my fave is the cross-processing, as I have used that a lot in the past, and it seems to bring out some of the details that the others do not. Polarpan is a second-runner-up! Great composition here!

xpro +polarpan is exactly my fave line-up too. grand merci!!

what about some !DERANGED !BEER ?
are kitty girls used to consume it?

Для ч/б, может быть, стоило какие-нибудь другие настройки выбрать? Чёрное пятно на месте зеленой тачки очень утяжеляет правую половину снимка.
