street art contest - week #95
The post goes for CCC's Street Art Contest - week #95
It was a while I did not contributed anything to StreetArt community, actually I did not walk out a lot and had no cool finds. Except of this one!
You cant count this as a graffiti masterpiece, hehe, but I really love this piece, its minimalistic approach, how much fun and art was created with such a modest tools arsenal. Besides that, it is an excellent example of the principle 'Everything is better with the googlyeyes", isnt it?
This is how the story begins. By the end of May I was going to a birthday party of my friend. Ofc I borrowed my camera, and choose to have wide-angle lens wide me. Passing this trash spot, I was momentarily magnetized, stopped and attracted - like a moth by a candle fire - by this little painting on a wall.
The result is really huge, what do I mean by saying 'little' is, that the artist took advantage of the finished blank, which was produced by the forces of nature and entropy - and added to it quite a bit: he painted eyes, a nose and a smile.
In a huge patch of crumbling plaster, he saw a poodle, and with a few added strokes he was able to bring it out in such a healthy manner that now everyone passing by can not help smiling. Magic!
Perhaps none of the #googlyeyes that I carry with me in the pocket would match here, drawing them yourself looks like the only right decision.
What else can I say... the piece is huge and blocked at close range with the trash containers. Was extremely hard to take a proper shots of it. But I did my best, hope you appreciate it. The actual address of location, in case someone would be intrested to check it, is: St.Petersburg, Bronnitzkaya street, 10.
location: | St.Petersburg, Russia | May 2022 | natural lighting |
camera/lens: | Canon 5D | 16-35mm | raw-conv. |
And now, a little bonus to my post...
I cannot deny the pleasure to share a pair of photos that @tatdt took during our walk together. In the very center of the city, in the area of luxury real estate, we found a wonderful place that looks like a bandon! Former industrial zone. Of course, the place is by no means abandoned, but at the moment - it is being mastered mainly by all sorts of auto repair shops and a couple of art centers ... and, of course, graffiti masters.
Yeah, its me in the frames, with 70-200mm telephoto. It did not work too well under given conditions (very packed space!), so I have to come back here and give it another try.
And, vice versa, this is @tatdt I captured in my frame.
Among the graffiti I've found even some fungi. That fungi, if you know what I mean, not the safest ones you can put to your cook. Charming piece, I love it.
This one gives me a strong reminiscence of a Hamburger Man. What do you think?
And the last one - drawing of some drug-dealer queen... probably. At least the sign pretends it so. Yes, new times - new customs. Now people are leaving the names of their social media accounts on the streets. I wonder what the next step will be?...
All in all: beautiful, amazing space! I am happy you still can find spots like these at your walks, not everything have been converted into clean sterile shiny money-making enterprises... And the most amazing thin is -- it is exactly in the historical centre of the city... you just need to turn the corner and go deeper into a couple of courtyards.
