Is the Threads hype really worth it?

Add a heading.png

As much as the launch of threads last month may have been exciting due to massive expectations, growth and visibility that its launch was meant to bring to the LEO and Hive community, I could say that there's not much of a difference. Apart from the increase in engagements on LeoFinance by the already existing LeoFinance users, and new users from Hive who haven't yet joined the LeoFinance frontend beforehand, there's not much I can say that was of significance.

Yes, LPUD. You'd probably think about last month's LPUD and how the launch of threads helped make it even more massive than the previous months. That's just it. Simply amplifying what already exists while allowing for more peeps to participate. I know it's all about the ability to see the greater picture and the advantages LPUD provides, which I also appreciate. I'm a fan of LPUD. But point is - Threads didn't create LPUD, LPUD already existed beforehand.

I was initially hyped for the launch of threads, but now not so much. The hype was an overkill and the entire thing didn't even meet up to what it was meant to be - a twitter alternative.

As much as it may have defeated noise.cash by an order of magnitude, I'm beginning to doubt that it defeats twitter. Maybe in the next few decades it will, but for now, it's a No No. The Hype literally created a false sense of excitement and the twitter comparison came forth which is something I'm also guilty of.

TO be sincere, the advantage of censorship resistance, full ownership of content, decentralisation, and earning for microblogging exists which twitter doesn't provide. But apart from that, what else?

I mean LeoFinance, and all other frontend on the Hive blockchain all operate on the basis of the above mentioned (censorship resistance and blah blah), so what different thing is LeoThreads really bringing that doesn't already exist in the blockchain apart from microblogging. Hoping someone answers that.

Claims that LeoThreads provides better visibility is all over but does it provides better visibility to the world out there for your brand or business than twitter? As a content creator, would you be better off promoting your work here or on other social medias? That's the greater question.

Conclusion

In my very subjective opinion, the Hive Blockchain has a lot of potential but is highly underrated since it's still hidden from the real world. LeoThreads aims to bridge that gap, unfortunately, the hype is more than the action taken to ensure wider visibility. It should be less hype, more action, unfortunately, it's quite the opposite.

As a big fan of Threads, I'm ashamed to admit this but regardless of the hype and constant comparison, LeoThreads shouldn't be considered a twitter competition because it's still far behind. In fact, Threads is being publicised via twitter, which proves that there's still a lot of work to be done by me, you reading this right now, and every member of the Hive and LEO community.

I appreciate your support of threads so far but keep in mind - as has been reiterated in every update about it and development release - this is an early alpha release. Google some screenshots about what Twitter looked/felt like in the first few months and it’s nothing alike.

Most people want the finished product today but aren’t willing to see that it takes years to develop a stable, reliable and growing product. Will need many more months of development to reach stability / ease of use on par with Twitter.

My advice is to use Threads as an early version of Twitter on Web3. If you prefer the less buggy and more reliable Web2 (also with more limited upside since there is no tokenization) then use Twitter. 🦁

I completely understand. I will continue to support threads in my own way, while publicising Leofinance and the Hive blockchain in my own way.

I completely understand that it's all still in it's early phase. I really look forward to that day where we can confidently say that Threads has taken over twitter.
I see that happening in the not-too-distant future, but it will only happen with the joint effort of everyone on the chain.

Some very good points here ! I reckon Threads has huge potential, but needs a bit more development to be useful.

Things that spring to mind are ways to follow people (and be followed) specifically on Threads, to be able to select a news feed made up only of threads from people you follow, and improved ways to search. Although I can't rule out that some of those already exist and I just don't know how to do it !

I'll know Threads is winning when people launching promo competitions on Twitter (you know the kind of thing - "Spam this to 10 contacts on Twitter to get our wonderful Airdrop") start to ask for posts on Threads to qualify for airdrops.

Yes, a lot of potentials which has not been utilised yet. What threads needs is a lot more promotion via a joint effort from every member of the Leo and Hive community.

Bottom line is, what are threads doing for the LEO price? I don't see anything noteworthy yet...so I guess it's nothing.
