Battle Mage Secrets: Taking Sides Ruleset
Hello Hive
It's been a great week and I want to use this opportunity to say Happy Halloween to our dear gaming community. It's that time of the week when I get to share my battle with the hive community. This week's battle focuses on the ruleset "Taking Sides". This post discusses my use of strategy on the given ruleset. Before proceeding any further, here is the link to this week's battle mage secrets announcement provided for interested parties.
What to know about the Taking Sides Ruleset
The taking side ruleset is the ruleset exclusively for monsters in a particular element without the inclusion of neutral monsters. Ideally, summoners in each of the spl element summons both monsters under their element with neutral ones but with the taking sides ruleset, all neutral monsters are excluded and can't be available for battle. This doesn't change much in terms of strategy as there are always capable monsters to engage in a battle even without the neutral ones although the neutral ones give more options for team selection.
Strategic Selection of Battle Team
As I have previously highlighted, there's not much thing to do in terms of strategy relating to the ruleset other than relying the strategy on the availability and capability of given elements For this battle, the choice of element was made among the four provided by the game rules and the dragon was selected. The first thing to be considered is which of the dragon summoners best suits the intended strategy and after all considerations the choice came down to CAMILA SUNGAZER
CAMILA SUNGAZER
Summoner Camila Sungazer has the stats that reduces the melee damage of the opponent monsters by one. This is an advantage because when heading to the battlefield, the idea is always to reduce possible damage while planning to increase the damage sent out.
Camila of the dragon class is also very moderate with its mana cost which gives more room for other monsters with high mana to make the team
On the choice of which monster to lead the team to battle, The mount of leadership fell on the popular Djinn Chwala and this is because this monster is equipped with armor and possesses the thorn ability.
DJINN CHWALA
Chwala is a Melee monster very suitable for defense. This monster is capable in both its health, attack, and defense. Although the monster has no defense against magic monsters, its protective armor is enough to counter melee and ranged monsters which is the class of monsters mostly used in this battle.
Chwala's damage to the opponent comes in two forms. One is its normal three melee attack and the other is the thorn to the opponent monsters when they come in contact with it.
Considering which monster to come next and what part it has to play on the battlefield, the martyr melee monster "Vruz" was selected.
VRUZ
The question is can this monster stand the test of time if the defense monster gets eliminated? if no why choose it? The team's attack hub is positioned in the front and in the third position of the lineup. Putting this martyr monster in between was a strategy to get the considered attack hub stats boosted upon the death of the martyr
Considering the fact that this monster has low health its early elimination is most likely since it will be the focus of the enemy's opportunity ability monsters.
It wouldn't be a nice idea to go into the battlefield unprotected. For this reason, the consideration of protection was made, and the monster VENARI WAVESMITH was selected to protect the lineup.
VENARI WAVESMITH
Wavesmith which I considered the second attack hub of the team made the lineup due to its protect ability. With this monster on the team, all friendly monsters got two armor over their head.
Wavesmith which is a magic monster is capable of damaging health directly without going through the armor unless the target has the void armor ability. This monster's presence made it difficult for the opponent monsters to penetrate since they used melee and ranged monsters.
The thought of more support for the defending monster was achieved through the fourth monster in the team lineup and this support came in the form of healing by the monster MERDAALI GUARDIAN
MERDAALI GUARDIAN
Just as I earlier pointed out the defending monster might have what it takes to face melee and ranged monsters but it is no match for magic monsters. However, the presence of this monster solves a portion of that problem.
By refilling a portion of the defending monster's damaged health, this monster prolonged its presence on the battlefield
IGOR DARKSPEAR
ICE PIXIE
The two last monsters in the team served a similar purpose which was to contribute to the damages being sent out. However, there was a reason for using the last monster in that position and that is because it possesses the flying ability which can help it evade attacks from monsters such as melee and their ranged counterpart
