Avoid the "Ort" food for Good.

It happens that we use many things in local dialect but never try to find its actual meaning in English. It is always good to know something, usefully to add on to the knowledge. Today I just intrigued to know the meaning of jootha.

This is a very common words which one comes across in a Hindu family regularly. Basically many people avoid jootha of other. But what we call it in English??
Actually, jootha is hindi words which means, foods or meals eaten by other. Or any left over over food in a garbage. And in English we call it Ort.

It generally happens that a mother feed their baby from their own plate, or sometimes friends eat from each other plate and sometimes we may see beggars or rag pickers searching for ort food in dustbin or garbage. This is what means ort food. A kind of food which was eaten by other or some leftover food.

We tend to avoid eating ort / jootha food. As per the ancient hindu tradition, any ort / jootha food is the source of communicable disease. It is assumed that the suffering of other person transfered to the person who eat the ort food. Also it affect the planet (related to astrology) and can reduces the happiness. The impure thought of others get absorbed into our mind, if we eat their ort food. Ort / jootha food is always been prohibited and never find a place in the hindu religion.

During Covid, we have restraint ourself from each other. We were maintaining distances, we were keeping more hygiene, we were not getting close to other. These all were done to prevent the virus to spread. Similarly, to avoid the bad sin to transfer to other, ort / jootha food are prohibited.

However, do not relate the sharing part with ort . One can share their food before it was eaten. One can keep other's part seperately. But do not share anything from the ort part.

Sounds Insane, but this is what our vedic civilisation teach us.. Even though we are not following it strictly or never cared to avoid, but covid does taught us the greatest lesson that own safety is the best precaution.
