In my opinion, It would be interesting to have battle strategy posts not only in gold league but also in some other leagues as well. So In this article I would like to share top 5 silver strategies I used all the way to be a champion at @clove71 livestream Tournament. Thank you so much clove for the tournament and the Warsaken Booster pack prize. I am looking forward to learn and play that game too. The tournament was being held in Single Elimination format where only modern edition cards are playable.

The strategies that we are going to discuss are mentioned below :

  1. Use Obsidian effectively in "Back to Basic" Ruleset
  2. Sneak strategy is less effective in 30 mana and above
  3. Llama-Kron in Noxious Fumes
  4. Playing Jacek is risky, even in 99 mana
  5. Use Thorn or Shield ability in Melee Mayhem

- USE OBSIDIAN EFFECTIVELY IN BACK TO BASIC RULESET -

Alright, In the Back to Basic Ruleset, All monsters lose their ability, so what remains is just their attack, speed and health point, so putting monsters started from the highest health point in the first position and the lowest health point in the backmost is very important because this strategy will make your team alive longer and could attack effectively. Let's put it in the example, If we have 3 monsters with 5 HP, 7 HP and 9 HP, we need to put monsters 9 HP in the first position, and 7 & 5 HP in the second and third position respectively. This way, monster with 9 HP will take a role as a tank to protect monster with the lowest position in the back line.

So above picture is showing how I and @clove71 set the team for the battle. I made a line up where the monsters with the highest HP (11 Health Point) at the upfront (first 3 position) followed by Centauri Mage with 9 HP and Mitica Headhunter with 6 HP. The reason why I put Runemancer Florre in the last position is because she has magic and ranged attack so I think it would be best to put her in the last position (unless the ruleset is close range where ranged attack monster can attack from the first position). This kind of strategy has proven to work effectively in high mana Back to basic battle.

- SNEAK STRATEGY IS LESS EFFECTIVE IN MANA 30 AND ABOVE -

In the second strategy, let's talk about sneak strategy, In my opinion, having all sneak monster in a team would be best in mana below 30 since in that battle, opponent tends to attack the first position monster and don't consider their defence in the last position. That's the reason why sneak is very strong in mana below 30, but it doesn't work well when mana is 30 and above. The battle below between me and @clove71 is an example :

I used 4 sneak monsters to attack the opponent monsters in the backline and put flying monsters in the last position to anticipate the opponent's sneak monster (if they used any). The sneak monsters has successfully killed all of my opponent's monsters in the backline but failed to beat Carnage Titan as he has 7 armour and 8 health point. @cove71 has set 2 strong monsters as tank and all of my sneak monsters could not defeat them. This is the reason why 30 and above mana is not effective anymore. The opponent might use very strong monsters which is impossible for sneak monsters to kill them.

This is how the match looks like at the end of the battle, my monsters has very low health point and armour compared to the clove team and lose at the end of the battle. This is very interesting lesson that I'll always remember.

- LLAMA-KRON IN NOXIOUS FUMES -

One of many ways to beat Llama-Kron (as being used by many leader boarders and tournament players) is to put monster with void ability and high health point (for example Unicorn Mustang supported by monsters with tank heal ability for example Khmerr Princess, Goblin Psychic or Wood Nymph. A monster / Summoner with Cripple ability will also works greatly to Counter Llama-Kron since the HP base of Kron will always decreased in each turn. However, we are not going to talk about how to counter Llama-Kron but we'll share how Llama-Kron is very strong in noxious fumes, here is the match :

It was the battle between I and @daftee. The moment I saw Noxious Fumes and small mana battle (20), I always remember to use Llama-Kron with the supporting monsters to complete the mana like failed summoner and Epona. Failed summoner is always a great tank in small mana battle since he can reflect the magic attack, while epona is one of the key monster in small mana battle since only with 1 mana, we can increase all the friendly monster's health point by 1. Alright, The reason why Llama-Kron is very strong in Noxious Fumes is because every monsters are getting poisoned and it makes the supporting monsters like tank healers to alive in the whole match, when they died, the tank monster will also died.

- PLAYING JACEK IS RISKY, EVEN IN 99 MANA -

Now let's talk about one of the legendary summoner from fire splinter, Conqueror Jacek. The summoner gives scattershot ability to all friendly monsters but I am personally thinking that the ability is making the attack is less effective because it's spread to all monsters randomly and would need lots of time to kill a monster. As a player, I'd like to focus the attack on 1 point so that we can kill the opponent monster fast. However, Jacek is the best at specific ruleset, for example explosive weaponry. When your opponent tried to use taunt ability and reflection shield, It Won't work as scattershot will still make the attack spread randomly. here is the battle between I and @nasheliana.

In this battle, The reason why I used Jacek is because he gives additional 2 speed to all of friendly monster, the target focus is Coeurl Lurker, with the additional 2 speed by Contesa Sinash and Supply Runner, his speed became 8. I wish the dodge and phase ability can make him dodge all of the opponent's attack but unfortunately it's 100% RNG. Your opponent (like Nasheliana) can also put 2 monsters to give additional 2 speed and when your opponent is successfully defeat the Coeurl Lurker before the Jacek team killed all of your opponent monsters, It's over. Jacek team will lose the match.

- USE THORN OR SHIELD ABILITY IN MELEE MAYHEM -

Melee Mayhem ruleset will allow all melee monsters to attack their opponent in the first position from anywhere. So It's very important to use the counter of melee attack using several abilities such as Thorn, Shield or Retaliate. Thorn ability will inflict 2 damage to melee monster, Shield ability will reduce melee damage. Attack damage gets halved (rounded up), except attack 1 which deals 0 damage. and Retaliate ability will allow the target to hit the attacker back. Here is the battle between I and @slaifer-red-01.

In the above battle, I am glad my prediction that slaifer will use many melee monsters is right. So putting Tortisian Fighter was a right decision. We used almost the same line-up, The difference is the first line up (Tortisian fighter and Cruel Sethropod) and last position (Chaos agent and Torrent Fiend). My team was in advantage since the shield ability will reduce all of the melee monsters attack and it really helps my team to win the battle.

Thanks Queen for the follow. I think I figured out how to delegate the Runi , you just assign it to another player I think you still have ownership. I really hate ETH and the fees charged though :)
