Mount Kelud, The Most Active Volcano in Indonesia

Welcome back to my post, @queen-silvia, This is my second post in Pinmapple Community and I want to share to all of you about The Most Active Volcano in Indonesia, Mount Kelud. The Mountain is located 156 Km from Surabaya, The Capital of East Java Province in Indonesia. Below picture is showing where it's located based on the world map :

Mount Kelud is my second destination while having vacation in Kediri. My first destination was Simpang Lima Gumul, I have written the article which you may find the post here : SIMPANG LIMA GUMUL, Arc De Triomphe of Indonesia. I went to Kelud using motorcycle, it took me around 1 hour from my home to Mount Kelud. Below picture is showing the entrance where visitor has to pay the ticket. The cost is 8,000 IDR (55 cent) in weekday and 10,000 IDR (69 cent) in weekend. Pretty cheap for the tourist ticket, isn't?. Well almost everything in Indonesia is cheap so if you are from developed country then you might be very rich person in Indonesia, ha ha. 🤣

In order to reach the main mountain where we can see the Crater of Mount Kelud, we have to travel around 3 km from the entrance gate. Some people who want to enjoy the beauty of scenery would prefer to walk with their family rather than renting motorcycle, so that they can take some pictures along the way. I chose to walk since I want to take as many pictures as I can. Here are some pictures that I can capture :

Some people who are tired can take rest. As we can see in the pictures, they are just sitting on the road and talk to each other. If you are renting motorcycle, you can't ride by yourself, the owner of motorcycle will ride and pick you to the destination (Mound Kelud) and back to the entrance gate. The fee to rent the motorcycle is 30,000 IDR ($2). Here is the picture of motorcycle rental :

Their motorcycle is designed for traveling in the mountain. In general, the motorcycles should have at least 150 cc power. The owner of motorbike rental always wear special orange vest to show that they are providing their motorcycle for rent. There are many motorbike available for rent so don't worry, they are always available for the tourist. The disadvantage of using motorcycle is that you can't enjoy the beauty of natural scenery or panorama along the way. Here are some pictures I got with my mobile phone :

After walking for an hour, I arrived at the main mountain where we can see the crater. Many tourists take some pictures with their family or beloved people. Some of them used their own camera and the rest were asking the photographer to take their picture. It took only 10 minutes to print out the photograph. Pretty fast I think. There are 3 mountains, Kelud Mountain, Sumbing mountain and Gajah Mungkur Mountain. The most clear one is Sumbing mountain as it's made by pure stone and not covered by trees or shrubs, here are what the main mountain looks like :

I have some clear picture of Mount Sumbing that I want to show you guys, I think this is the most beautiful and outstanding mount among other mountains. Many people will think that this is Mount Kelud but actually it's Sumbing Mountain :

We can also purchase souvenirs like hat, necklace, bracelet, wig, Eye glasses, etc. Some other stuffs were provided for sale like umbrella and raincoat in case rain is coming. The cost to rent photographer (included a picture) is 10,000 IDR (67 cent). The photographer provided some meme in wooden board in order to make the photos more fun:

I found a happy family who have picnic. They sat together on the carpet, pitching their tents and enjoy delicious food they cooked from home. Sometimes they also take selfie picture. What a great family. I wish after getting married, I could be granted 2 kids and have a picnic in mountains or beach just like them. That would be one of the memorable moment together with my dear people.

If you have kid, You can try to rent this ATV (All terrain Vehicle), a 4 wheel motorcycle designed to be used in mountain area. The cost to rent this vehicle is 15,000 IDR ($1) per hour. Pretty cheap isn't? you can let your kid riding this vehicle and take his / her picture. That would be great memorable moment to rewind in the future.
