TIPPING: OPTIONAL AND NOT MANDATORY…

I think it’s high time we made some norms clear and corrected before moving ahead, if these thoughts, ideas, ideologies and views aren’t corrected now, then we will be having a big problem in the coming years. The next couple of generations coming after us will be born and raised in this man-made rules and before we know it things might escalate than we expect…

Tipping is not mandatory, it is optional. I remember when we were still in the soft regime of Yar’ adua, things weren’t as cost as this, living wasn’t hundred percent comfortable but then we still had to eat, store and to give out, which means there was still room for TIPPING back then, unlike the last two rulers that has ruled us in the last couple of years, the likes of Buhari and our current president Tinubu

These two men has made life a living hell for us. Everything is expensive, food is expensive, clothes are expensive, transportation is expensive, we can’t even eat out like we do before because the cost of everything has tripled, would you blame a middle class man who walks into a restaurant to eat a food of more than 30k because he doesn’t have an option, he is obviously well dressed but then he eats the food and immediately walked out after paying his bills without tipping those who served him?

At least Buhari’s regime was even quite softer and less aggressive than that of our current president Tinubu, even during Goodluck and Buhari’s tenure we were still able to tip workers for their beautiful service without thinking about the consequences, everything changed during this Tinubu regime, only small percentage of the people tip workers nowadays, and in this small percentage we have the rich dominating greatly and those who can barely afford to sort their bills just pack one side…

At this point in time, tips mostly come from the rich and the generous ones and not from someone who can’t even afford a day’s food. There are few people who aren’t rich but still tip others from time to time, that’s generosity. They don’t have In excess but from the little they have they give out…

I won’t blame anyone who doesn’t give tips in this regime. Using myself as an example in this topic, tipping is not something i do constantly, location and the size of my pocket are two factors I consider whenever I want to tip someone for a good job well done. If I’m walking into a fancy restaurant and I don’t really have much on me, i eat my food and pay up then move out…

If I’m walking into a road side restaurant and the food is less compared to that of a fancy restaurant, i eat, pay up and might tip the one who served me, it depends on my mood. If I’m walking into a buka, their good food is quite cheap, i eat and pay up, sometimes i tip while the other times I don’t, since the severs clear up after every customer leaves. I pay at the counter and move out. The question you should ask me now is when last have I gone to these places I mentioned above, this period is hard enough, i will rather do my thing on a low-key and tip myself than to go out there with nothing. Street don hard ajeh 😂…

Tipping is OPTIONAL

In this modern age and time, nothing can and should be forced, especially when it comes to tips. Tipping is very very optional, you can and you also can’t. You don’t force or make someone tip you. It’s just what people do out of their pocket and of their own free will and generosity…

Tipping is not mandatory, a stingy or a broke person will not tip you for any reason, there are different definitions of being broke. Some people having 500k in their account is considered being broke while to some people having nothing or amount less than 20k is being broke. A stingy person who has multimillionaire will never tip you for any reason. Tipping is by choice and not by force…

I have shared my personal experience with tip, I worked in three different places before settling down to be a hiver. I was once a teacher, a storekeeper and a loan collector, and in all my years of working with these people, tips came in from some parents and not all, tips came in from some section leader and not all, there were times we had to ask ourself, we ask mostly from our section leaders and sometimes from our consistent customers after we render some good service to them, and as a loan collector my good and generous customers give me tips whenever they come for a new loan. The generous ones tip me for serving them well and for being a good boy, while the others don’t, regardless of who tip me I treat everyone equally to an extent…

In summary, I didn’t really accept tips when i was a loan officer, and that was because I saw it as a bribe to not do my job properly…

In conclusion, who go tip you go tip you and who no go tip no go tip you, do your best and leave the rest, no long cap. We move…
