SMARTNESS COUPLED WITH HARD WORK…

source

There is a thing line between being smart and being hardworking, especially when it’s relating to ones life as a student. I will be using myself as a practical example in this regard before diving deeper into my points on this topic today. As a student i am quite hardworking and can be very hardworking, especially when the mid section test is approaching and also mostly during the approaching of any external or internal examination, which means i am mostly hardworking when the need arises, but then in the aspect of being smart, I will tell you without a doubt that I’m not hundred percent smart…

I am not ashamed to say this to you all, if I’m hundred percent smart then i won’t be having so many problems in life right now, just saying though. Especially in one of my major subjects as a science student, i am not hundred percent smart but then i am smart to an extent, this I know about myself. I have shown different levels of smartness in my academical career over the last couple years and I’ve worked hard numerous times in the past to become not only one of the best students in my class but also the best student in my school…

I could only try, i was amongst the best students in my school which was quite enough for me, it wasn’t easy but then determination is the key to success…

I still believe life is sure to get better for those who utilize both smartness and hard work efficiently, you can be hardworking and not be smart, you can be smart and not be hardworking, which means smartness and hard work works best hand in hand, and with them life is bound to get easier at some point…

The rules and regulations guiding every student out there is just the best, it’s for our sake, it’s best to be smart and hardworking. I only see complications and hard decisions in a world where your level of smartness pays way better than how hard you work. I think the rules are just fine as they are. Well, I might be wrong though, I haven’t experienced the stringent rules of being a tertiary student, but then both are best utilized together…

IS IT WORKING OR DOES IT NEED TO BE CHANGED?…

Hmm, the traditional way of writing exam is soon to go into extinction, i see a hundred percent computer based examination system coming soon, it has started already but then it hasn’t circulated completely. Only few institutions are currently doing it right now, I believe soon enough primary schools and secondary schools examination will be fully computer based…

The only beautiful aspect of the traditional way of writing examinations is the communication aspect. Traditionally, students can help each other out with difficult questions, unlike in a computer based system where there’s no chance of getting external help from your friends in the hall…

In summary, I believe the traditional system is still working quite well. Technology has advanced a great deal, no doubt about that fact but then i don’t think we can afford the luxury of letting students have access to their phones and internets during their exams, it’s a risky risk…

The fact is that if students have access to their phones and internet during exams there won’t be any serious students left, some students will just fully depend on that and act lazy while others might work hard. I know myself quite well, if i had both a mobile phone and an internet at my disposal during exams, i won’t fail any exams…

source

I might not fully depend on it but then i will still make use of my phone and internet when i run into problems. In the absence of these things it means more time to study and learn. Your results will be fully based on how well you prepared and studied for that examination…

In summary, there’s no way around it, with the outstanding advancement in technology i don’t think students should be allowed to have access to their phones and internets during their examinations, and that is because it will certainly make a difference…

In conclusion, I think the traditional system is quite okay, even if we still have our way around it, it’s better than a guaranteed success because of the availability of these things; a phone and an internet, let’s leave it that way…

You have said it all: being smart and hardworking works together, and that is why we see some people getting it right while some are getting it wrong. Most people are hardworking, but they are not smart, while some are smart and they are not hardworking.

I also don't support students going to the exam all with their phones because it will only increase the exam malpractice and it will also make most students lazy to read.

Interesting take! The shift towards computer-based exams is definitely growing, but I agree that the traditional system has its own unique benefits, like peer support. Both methods have their place in education.

I’ve had my students tell me that we should cancel their exams and just believe that they have learnt.😂

I used to say that back in school but now I understand that exams is not just to fail you but to test you and for you to know where you fall short.
