It has been known since the beginning of time that hackers and scammers are everywhere looking for whom to either devour or victimize, the question we ought to ask ourselves every now and then is whether we are conscious and aware enough to not be a victim of these attacks. A lot of people have been victimized in diverse ways due one reason or the other, greed and ignorance are two major factors. These two factors are the major causes for these attacks, and not many people out there are literate enough to recognize and escape these attacks, the few ones that escape them are the knowledgeable ones…

When it comes to cyber attacks and espionage i don’t think i have ever been a victim of these attacks, and that is because i know how all these things work and i am always very conscious and aware whenever it comes to my dealings, just to avoid being victimized by these heartless people…

I grew up in the street, not street as in streets lol, i meant i grew up around people that are not just street wise but also very knowledgeable when it comes to detective cyber activities, thanks to my environment i was able to get the basic knowledge i need to fish out their schemes and methods…

I have figured out their tricks and methods long ago, one of the most consistent method these hackers use in their cyber espionage and attacks is sending of phishing links, messages and phone calls, acting like a person close to you or acting mostly like your bank customer service manager, this has been their forever method, and thanks to witnessing and hearing of other’s attacks, i have been well informed and educated on how these hungry hackers attack. This has been keeping me safe from these cyber hackers many times…

I don’t click anyhow links, I reconfirm everything a friend sends to me that has to do with monetary transactions, I don’t join apps that involves linking of commercial bank accounts, all these are to avoid being victimized, they will come in different ways, you just need the right knowledge and you are good to go…

I remember the most recent cyber attack my friend got, this happened about two years ago, the truth is that this my particular friend is a dumb dumb lol, I can’t even be a victim of what happened to him because i have street OT, I guess he became a victim because of his omo-get-inside nature lol, well, it happened to him…

It happened that my friend had to go open a commercial bank account ahead of his tertiary degree to receive funds and other financial transactions from parents, families and many others. He opened the bank the first week and the following week he was asked to come get his bvn and also his ATM card…

He got his BVN and ATM card that day, his dad had to confirm the credibility of his account by wiring him 25000 naira, the money dropped and spent the night in his account. The following morning he got an anonymous call from a strange number, the person acted like an attendant from his bank, they started with their usual introduction and the moved further into asking him to confirm his account number, they called the first 4 numbers and my JJC friend finished the rest, thereby making it easier for them to penetrate him…

The next thing that happened was him being asked to call the numbers on his atm card for his card to be inspected and confirmed for usage, my friend called everything before asking anyone in house, within 10 minutes he got a debit alert of 25k, no stress no struggle…

He was shocked and confused at first because he has never used the card apart from his first withdrawal at the bank. He ran to his elder sister and he explained everything to her, it was at this point he knew he was scammed and attacked…

In summary, he couldn’t cry, he couldn’t eat, he just stayed indoor thinking about his foolishness until his dad came and went to his bank with him to lodge a complaint, they got there and told them they never send their customer care to call their customers for any reason, it got confirmed that his account was hacked…

In summary, his encounter with those hackers made me more vigilant and weary, and till date i have never fallen victim of such attacks, i almost fell for one but I stood my ground…

In conclusion, I learned a lot from his own experience, I learned how important cyber security is important and how it is easy for hackers and scammers to gain access to one’s personal information without stress, we just need to be equipped with the right knowledge and we can escape this risk…
