The Flood in Jembrana

Hello everyone,

it was 3.30 AM in the morning, when I woke up from the loud sound of the rain outside the house. I opened the house door, and looked at my front yard.

Water was flooding the front yard. It was about 20 cm deep.

Wow, this rain was very intense. I walked through the flooded yard to the road in front of the house. I saw the rain also had filled the road.

A few minutes later, as the rain continued to pour, the water surface on the yard had raised. And, the water has turned murky.

I put my motor cycle (the one I used to have trips for writing in @pinmapple before) outside, at the end of the road, because the place was higher and not affected by flood. I saw people doing the same.

It was just few more centimeters before the water reached the level of the house floor. When the water reached that level, it would flow inside the house, and this would be bad! I was a bit worried about this.

The rain gradually becoming less and less. And three hours later, the rain had completely stopped. The water still occupied the yard though, but it was slightly less.

In the morning, things seemed back to normal. I brought my kids to school despite the water. We walked to the end of the flooded road to where my motorcycle was parked and then rode to school.

Later I found out from the local news, that there were flood in different parts of the Jembrana district (the district where I live). This included a destroyed bridge in the main street which caused tens of kilometers of traffic jam. In other part, temples, houses were affected by the flood. One teenage girl was reported slipped into the river and passed away. May she rest in peace.
