NYSC
Hello everyone, trusting your weekend is going on fine❤️.
Recently I had a notification from my facebook (https://www.facebook.com/cynthia.okonkwo.505 ) and it was about the post I made sometime ago about my Nysc (National youth service corps)pop(passing out parade).
Going to Nysc didn't come easily for me because my school was affiliate of a university and that brought a lot of delay which held us down from August 2017- June 2019 before we were posted.
In preparation of the Nysc we had our convocation at the main institute (Nnamdi Azikwe university Akwa,Anambra state) which brought almost all my college friends back in one place after so many years. We talked about life after graduation and most importantly where we would like to serve.
As always I had Akwaibom state in mind because I have heard alot of things about their food and culture and I wished to be there. Posting came and luckily I was posted to Akwaibom state.
During our 3 weeks orientation camp I met a lot of interesting people (some I still speak with till date).
I got to join Red cross community (we did some training and helped the officials to save sick or weak corps members who couldn't perform at some point in the arena).
At the end of the camping exercise we ended it with jeans cannival. Each platoon picked a theme color which they used to design their white.
After the orientation camp we prayed and wished for uyo (the state capital) but I was posted to oron district (it's a rural area but they are rich in crayfish, sea food trading). In the period I served there I made lemonade out of the lemon life gave me, I made good use of the sea food market and became sea food vendor 🥴🥴.
I found people in that part where I was sent to interesting (the don't have much going on for them but they are hospitable) and local food in Akwaibom fascinating, out of the ones I tasted I fell in love with their Afang soup(it is a rich vegetable soup).
I wasn't a stay at a place corp member so I used my free days to learn how to drive from a friend and visited places round my district. Me and my friends on one of such visiting occasions went to eket beach just in the next town.
I am no longer a serving corp member but the people I met, the friends I made and the experience lives. Thank you for stopping by.
Long live Nysc, Long live Akwaibom state, and long live Nigeria.
the
Beautiful photos there I love the beach photos and I would like to see the sea food vendor as well 😅.
Congratulations all the way.
What an exciting experience❤
You made the right choice by going to Akwa-ibom state. My few times there was awesome though it could have been better. I still plan to visit very soon.
I enjoyed reading your blog post. Much love😍
