My entry for Splinterlands Art Contest Week 289: Chaos Animator
Practice makes perfect, that’s what they say, I just don’t know if it applies to me. But whether I’m improving or not, with every drawing I make, I keep on drawing until the time comes when I become better.
This week, I experimented with a new style in my drawing, and I’ll show you the new discoveries and applied styles in this post.
The character from Splinterlands that I chose to draw this week is Chaos Animator.
She is a death unit with no attack but has the ability to amplify and void. You might think that this unit is useless, but because of its low mana consumption, it’s easy to include it in battle, especially when paired with a unit with weapons training ability.
The first thing I did was to draw the outline of Chaos Animator. I varied the colors because that’s what I used as a guide for the colors.
At first, I was going to make her smile because I didn’t observe much of her facial expression in the lore, but I changed it in the end and made it slightly fierce.
After finishing the outline, I colored it, using the watercolor brush as usual. After shading, I blurred the colors and added more until I got the shade I wanted.
For the background, I used a Japanese pattern filter and created a gradient fill on top of it, changing its layer orientation to multiply.
I also added a shadow behind the character to make it look better.
This is my final artwork of Chaos Animator, I hope you liked it. Thanks for dropping by!
