Music: Pleasant Sounds To The Ears.

Music is a beautiful thing and there is almost no right words or way to say exactly how beautiful it is; we can only express it through our feelings and actions. That's why no matter the genre of music we are either moving our body, like dancing, nodding or crying or just silent and lost in the music. Music has its magical way of reaching our souls and connecting to it. We also connect better and enjoy any music in two ways, either by the lyrics of the music or the sound and rhythm of the music. The lyrics and the sound (or both) alter our emotions, making us react based on the sound or lyrics. Like very slow and solem song make us, silent, sad or cry while quite fast and rhythmic song make us move or dance.

When I was in Junior High school, the basic definition our teacher gave us was "music is the arrangement of different that is pleasing to the ear". This definition is so basic and true, even if there are different sounds brought together but it is not pleasing to the ear, then it is not music. The sound has to pleasing to the ear for it to qualify as music. You'd agree with me that even noise is sound or arrangement of sounds but we can't call that music because it is not pleasing to the ear. Examples are noise in a market place, noise.

The chords, voice and progressions from the piano, the rhythm and groove from the drums and bass guitar, the patch and melodies from the lead guitarist, the tempo (how fast or slow the song is) , the time signature, etc. Music can be medicine to the soul. Everyone likes music but different genre and style.

I don't have a specific or favourite genre of music but I two I like more which is the praise and the other is worship. I choose these two type of music because they are completely opposite of themselves; my preferences are literally because I am a Christian and I grew up in the church. Praise could be in form of funk, reggae, or salsa sometimes, it is usually has a faster beat probably from 70bpm upwards (beat per minute). Since music has its magical way of making us react, praise music make us express joy by dancing and moving side by side or one spot to another, lift up, wave or throwing our hands in the air, clapping also. You just have to move our body and sing along.

Worship is slow and melodious, we connect more with it because of the lyrics and the solem sound. Lifting up, waving of hands, closing of eyes, bowing of head, placing hand on the chest, slowly moving side to side, crying are ways people react to worship music. You could get so emotional when the lyrics is well understood. Bothr praise and worship gives you the room to express how you feel, either by moving slowly to a sweet and slow sound or dancing to a beat.

We all have different preferences when it comes to music because we do not always feel the same all the time. The kind of music a quiet and reserved person like is definitely different from what a very social person would like.
