COUNTLESS BATTLES WITH BIG BLACK BUSH RATS IN MY ROOM.

Writing this post felt like I was going to have ptsd from my several experiences with these scary creatures.

The previous hostel I stayed in used to have new problems immediately after current one get solved. There is always something to fix or buy, after two years the owner decided to renovate, asked us to pack out.

I was able to get a room in a friend's hostel and paid for it but I didn't check the room out at all because I was yet to resume. I resumed to my previous hostel to pack out only for me to get to the hostel I met a very big padlock on the gate. I was confused, moved back a little to check if I was in the right hostel, I was right in front of the hostel. I called other hostel mates but none had resumed and were unaware about the padlock on the gate. I was lucky, another hostel mate travelled in from home and met me there right in front of the hostel gate. We pondered on what to do about the issue. Finally, we agreed to break the padlock with stones. It took about 30 minutes to break the bu2g padlock with a rock.

Got inside my room and began to pack my luggages while waiting for my roommate to arrived with his dad and their car so we could move to the new hostel. I got to the new hostel and the room was so dirty, filled with nylons, papers, books,etc. I could not comprehend how a human being would live in a room like that. My friend in the hostel and my room mate started to sweep while I was offloading our loads. We were done with cleaning of the room when I noticed that the pipe under the kitchen zinc is leaking, there was a hole in the pipe.

Just a week after we packed in, I began to hear noise of rats crying. From the noise one could tell that there were many. One crazy night, one big black rat come out from the pipe under the kitchen zinc and was making noise in my kitchen. It was around 11pm, I took my broom immediately I discern it was a rat. Tip toed to the kitchen door, opened very fast and what I saw made my heart skip a beat. I saw two very dark and big rats trying to eat my noodles. I just stood for few seconds, I didn't expect to see those kind of rats. I manage to beat one with the broom till it was weak, the other escape through the hole in the pipe. These rats were stinking so bad and the odour fromtheir body quickly filled my room. Had to put on the fan and open my door wide for fresh air to come in.

Another encounter with this scary creatures was one in the middle of the night. My roommate woke me up and it felt like it was an emergency to evacuate the hostel. When the sleep had left my eyes, I heard him well "Samuel Samuel!, there are rats in the kitchen again". I stood up annoyed, picked up the broom resting on the wall and went straight to the kitchen, saw three rats this time. I didn't miss my first stike, hit the biggest one with just a strike powerful enough to make it weak. One ran to the main room while the smallest escaped. I was so pissed that it got to the room. Oh my God!.... It was a serious battle between two humans and one big black and stinking bush rat. By the time I was able to hit the rat with one final strike that made it very weak, I found out that I had scattered everything in the room. My bed foam was standing tall and resting on the wall, pieces of broom scattered on the floor, my room mate standing on the chair and some clothes on the floor too. My right hand was paining me already because I missed many times while trying to hit the rat.

That night..... We couldn't sleep until past 2am, was scared that another set of rats might come visiting. I found a temporary solution to hole in the pipe and lived peacefully for about 7 months. Guess what, this rat have eaten up the outlet pipe connecting my WC in the toilet to the soak away. I have had few battles with this scary creatures and I think I can't cope anymore, honestly, it is terrifying. I even added it to my prayers. I'll be getting a plumber soon to come fix the outlet pipe in the toilet.
