Benefits I Enjoyed Working As Teacher.

I am Visual Identity Designer and I have been in this field for about 3 years now. Aside from the fact that I am a student, I'm currently not employed and the only place I can call work for now is Hive (yeah, I earn on Hive). I work as a freelancer, charge my clients per work and get paid before and after work. Currently, I am not active because my laptop developed a fault but I will be fixing soon.

I once taught as a primary teacher in a small school after graduating from secondary school. I got the job through a good friend and he was working there at that time. I started same day I submitted my application letter. That day was the day I realised that younger children are cute, funny, sweet and interesting set of creature; though they can be very troublesome but that's nothing close to the other part of them. I enjoyed being a teacher through out my time there. If I am bored all I need to do is indulge few of the kids to answer some random questions, then I watch and listen to their funny replies. Sometimes, I just sit to listen and watch them interacting amongst themselves, it is never tiring.

70% of the teachers at that time were as young and so we were able to interact on a better level. To me, it was like have your classmates around in a school but not receiving any lectures. It was easier and more fun to talk to each other, cooperation was also on the scale of 10/10. I could go meet one of the teachers to help me teach my kids when I am not feeling too good while I just help the teacher to monitor his/her kids. The propietress was not strict at all but does not condone nonsense. She trued hwr best to have personal relationship with every teacher so we could be free enough with her. She is the best teacher I have ever seen, she sometimes teach the kids phonetics and she is so good at it.

The relationship between teachers was so obvious that parents noticed and gave comments countless times. Such cooperation in an organisation is not common. I can count the number of times I share my food with other teachers or eat from their food. Even the food vendor gives free food at times, that was how close we were. Writing about it make me miss that time more.

Salary was never delayed, we get paid at the end of every month. We also do afternoon lessons and that brings us extra cash which was about quarter of our salary. All the salaries I received at that time were in cash, the propietress never sent money to our accounts; it was her own choice and I was cool with it since it was not reducing my payment.

One thing that might force me to quit the job then would probably have been lack of cooperation and healthy interaction. Honestly, the only thing that made love the job and became better at teaching was the constant cooperation and support from each teacher; I initially joined to have a source of income but my mind and plans changed when I witnessed the cooperation. I worked there for 2 years and a few months before gaining admission into the university. It's been 3 years now since I left but I still get in touch with some of the teachers.

Thank you for reading till the end
