THE NAIRA REDESIGN | An unworthy spending

I do believe that one of the best ways to ensure that your money yields good results and reproduce is by spending them wisely. Spending wisely is far beyond just making low budgets but also making strategic thinking plans focused on archiving good quality results while spending on a low budget.
So what about spending a huge amount of money on what was never necessary? Well, let me share with you some of the unnecessary billings we’ve made here in country. Even though they are numerous unnecessary spends we have made in the country, I would only focus on one which is the redesigning of the old currency (NAIRA).
Redesigning of the old currency
I felt happy the day I read a report from the central bank about redesigning new bills that will replace the old bank notes, I was very much excited as I was believing to see a new advanced and more reliable bank notes to be issued as a new legal tender.
We were hoping to see something new probably new designed bills but unfortunately it didn’t turn out as we expected instead, the same old bills were redesigned by adding just colors. Worse of all is that the colors would easily fade out if you immerse the bills inside of water whereas the initial bill was very much okay.
I really felt disappointed after seeing the bills on the internet and the reviews of other citizens in the country.
The central bank according to them spent over ₦1.8 trillion NAIRA that is ($2.5 billion Dollars) just to recolor the old currency to an unacceptable form.
It is really bad because that was a waste of capital, money and resources. After all this, the printed note’s weren’t enough for nigerians. The central bank redrew ₦1.8 trillion naira to design and print ₦400 billion naira currencies which is even less than quarter the amount of money they wasted.
Although we knew the purpose of the new currency was to curb politicians who must have embezzled huge amounts of currencies from the government but yet it was still unnecessary because none of them were caught in the news rather, this only left Nigerians under hardship and undeserved punishments of financial detentions and scarcity.
There are so many ways that the $2.5bn dollars wasted on currency redesigned could have been used to help alot of people in the country especially the nigerian students and the body called ASUU.
Academic staff union of universities(ASUU)
For the past years the federal government(FG) has withheld the salaries of the academic staff union of universities ASUU due to reasons i am not so sure about and for this reason, the body has embarked on several occasions of strikes leaving the nigerian students on a set back in academics.
I'm really not sure where exactly the problem must have been coming from that caused the salaries of the academic staffs and lecturers of universities but i believe they should be paid what ever amount of money they agreed and had worked for all the years.
According to the board, the FG is owing ASUU over ₦1bn naira for the past years.
Now I don't see why the political body should be regarded more than the careers of the Nigerian students going to school. The ₦1.8trn that was wasted to recolour old bank bills was more than enough to settle the academic staff union of universities in other to ensure a smooth sailing academics in the country.
This would have gone a long way for us in nigeria even tho we have made some of this mistakes already, i still hope in the future of my country via a new leadership and God's interventions. I may not be the best, but i know i always give you quality point's when reading my articles, do have a great day.
To me, I think the naira redesign thing is a total waste of money and resources. And then the new notes has a very low quality compared to the old one. So it's just pointless.
Haha.. my brother, even the governor of CBN is aware that he has wasted the country's resources by re-coloring old bank notes where we have more serious problems in the country.
I tire oo, with all the problems in this country, our major concern is redesigning naira 🙄 not even a good design atleast lols.
