You are homeless for the weekend in a strange city with no family or friends to assist you - You have no money, and no possessions - just the clothes on your back. What do you do and why? Write at least 350 words to explain your thoughts, decisions and actions. Weekend-Engagement concept

This might be more than 350 words at the end of the post 😎😎😎

Nowadays, it's difficult to survive without money or even family and friends to support you. You will only become stranded but there is something that would speak to us then, which is “use your brain”.

The “use your brain” came to my mind as I was stranded in a strange city I found myself in, and this would continue throughout the weekend.

How it all started......

We went on a trip in groups. It was a suggestion from a colleague of mine and everyone bought the idea as we packed everything with us to start the trip. It was supposed to be a day's trip while everyone return home safely.

I had it in mind to visit someone in a new city as she just relocated there. It would be a surprise visit though. We had the trip and it was fun. While it was evening, they all dispatched as I told them would need to be in another city not far from where we went to.

Unknown to me, the last money was what took me to the city and as I took out my phone to call the person I was to meet, I found out that there was no airtime and I remembered one of us asked for my phone to make a call. Looking at my bank account, I was seeing a radio station channel, like 99.5.

I was dumbfounded! Perhaps the excitement of going on the trip with others made me forget I withdrew all the money from my account and I already spent it all, leaving me with nothing again.

What do I do now?

This was the next question in my mind as I was left standing beside the road and there was no way I would need any help because the medium through which to get across which is the phone is useless at that point. Will I spend my weekend this way? How do I survive? These were the next disturbing questions trooping in as I was even shy to raise my head for help from passersby.

The world we live in right now is so awkward because you, meeting someone for help, would make you think twice before taking such a step. People are so quick to look down on you and criticize or judge you instantly. Not even when I was putting on simple pleated skirt with a black polo top and my backpack containing a few weekend clothes.

“Use your brain!” I was attacked again by this word as I sat down on a long bench beside the road. As I was trying to find a means to survive or even have some money to either take me to my friend's place or even go back home, I heard the sound of an advertisement from a moving vehicle.

I quickly stood up to approach them. Even before saying anything, I was handed a paper to read through and I saw it was a volunteering service for the weekend which the pay was something for me. At least this would take me back home. I saw something that caught my eye “free food for the weekend is also included”.

Is this a miracle or what should I call it? This is something I have ever wanted to do. I mean being involved in volunteering service to help humanity, and to say the least, there would be free food for the weekend. I immediately jumped on the offer and told them of my decision to join them.

This was a decision I hurriedly jumped onto as that was something I wanted and being stranded in a strange city, this opportunity shouldn't fly away from me.

After the service ended, I got enough money to take me back to my destination since I didn't even inform my friend of my coming. It was a surprise visit anyways, but it turned out to make my dream come true.

Thanks for your time.

That's actually a great idea.. In case we are stranded in a new place, we can just go to a church and ask for help hehe..for sure, people will not reject us, right?

In this story there are factors of luck, thank goodness you found someone to help, usually in these cases people do not help others out of fear.

That was a miracle! God saw your heart and decided not push in help from above to you. Image if those people (voluntary People) were to be affiliate marketers of "bring people to register under you bla bla bla and become rich 🤣

That was really a miracle. Before I take any journey, I always make sure I have more than enough money both at hand and in my account. I don't want stories. Your case was even worst you were out of airtime and the person you came to visit is unaware of your coming. I don't pray to ever find my self in that kind of condition 🤣 because the only option that I would have left is to engage the oldest means of transportation which is trek back home😁. Thank God for use your head initiative. What a beautiful entry dear🥰

When you are in a difficult situation and there is a church nearby, that is the first option, even if the situation is bad, they are the best.
