The Pros and Cons of Free Movement of People.

When I was still living with my aunt in Ibadan some years back, she came back home from where she went and screamed, "Busayo, mad people are everywhere, it was as if they were released”. I laughed because it was funny and understanding how the street and road would be. When mad people are let loose and roam everywhere, no one would recognize a normal being when they are already mixed up. She said people were running for their lives and she did too. The way she narrated the experience got me cracking up because it was funny.

Now imagine all countries decided to open all borders, which means everyone will have access to such an opportunity. Even those taking care of mad people would gladly leave and take up the opportunity, of course, you know what will happen, the door where the insane are kept would be let loose and there wouldn't be a safe place again. Imagine hardened criminals escaping too because all prison wardens wanted to grab the opportunity of going to another country because they are tired of their home country.

My plan and dream are to study for my Masters abroad. My sister has been pestering me to get my Passport done while preparing to travel anytime. I had to remind her there is no money as I would have to work and save for the study. You can imagine what would happen to hear in the news that all countries have decided to open their borders for everyone to go to their desired country. I will definitely grab the opportunity, trust me, there's no one who would be willing to stay behind, especially in Nigeria where things aren't balanced. People are looking for a small chance and once they find one, they quickly opt-in without wasting time.

The first thing that would change is the price of items including food. Imagine the cost of a bag of rice presently, if borders are opened, many people would want to stock their homes with lots of bags of rice and other foodstuffs because things would be cheaper. It would be freedom for everyone as they don't need to complain about a hike in price as goods would be sold at lesser prices.

This would be a big opportunity for those wanting to travel out for exploration, tourism and studies. There wouldn't be the issue of saving money to get a passport, obtaining a visa, going to the embassy for an interview etc. Things would be made easier as one can move freely anytime without anyone stopping them. Just like I said, it would be a great chance to move to my desired country, study my course, work and get back to my country if I want to.

It would be a great opportunity for other countries wanting skilled professionals who are trained for the job, like doctors, engineers, etc. There would be economic growth when these kinds of people can move freely to other countries to prove their talent and skills in particular work as businesses will thrive.

Opening all borders would grant people a quality life span as there would be access to healthcare services, education, and better job opportunities which leads to a better life.

Also in the advantage part of it, there would be the freedom to learn various and diverse cultural values. Since we would be having different people coming together to live in different countries, it would be an opportunity to learn about other cultures and explore various traditions which would then lead to understanding and tolerating each other.

With all these amazing advantages which would benefit all, the damage it will cause is more than what we would be enjoying.

There would be overpopulation and underpopulation which could lead to low job opportunities, and low economic growth as the skilled and professional workers would want to leave their country where they are needed as they jump onto a bigger offer than what they get. When a country loses such quality people, it affect businesses and there would be closedowns when they lack skilled labor.

The crime rate would be alarming. Imagine what will happen when hardened criminals and terrorists have access to weapons, and take them to another country. There would be lots of atrocities committed like killing, raping, drug dealers etc. There wouldn't be security anywhere.

The movement of people when borders are opened will bring tension to housing, healthcare, and resources of the economy. There would be more people managing houses and that would be a great problem because, in the end, there would still be people roaming around with nowhere to place their heads to sleep on. This will eventually cause illegal and immoral acts among every person.

Finally, there would be conflict among people as they would find it difficult to integrate into a new society and system. No one would want to oblige to rules as they want to do things on their own with no one controlling them. In the end, the world would be in chaos and perhaps, war would ensue.

These are my contributions to the advantages and disadvantages of opening all borders by each country and I wouldn't want to be a part of those who would want to yield to such idea of borders opening for all and granting all persons free access and movement.

Thanks for your time on my blog.

This topic is making me think far...
If it happens, then almost all of us would leave Nigeria with the government too, and I'm sure other countries will come and occupy here🤣. Swapping,

The advantages are yummy 😋..so tempting for someone like me who dream almost every night where I landed in Canada 😂😂😂...but c'mon, the disadvantages will be terrible experience and I wouldn't know if the world can come out of. Just like you pointed my dear, it's a no go area decision 😂

No doubt, a border less world will help a lot of people achieve their dreams and the ability to trade with other countries easily will make the prices of things very cheap but the disadvantages can't be overlooked.
.
My biggest fear would be crime because of people will use the opportunity to commit crime and overpopulation in some countries won't be evitable.

Developed countries with good economy will take the hit.

There is nothing people cannot do when it comes to having free access to things like this. They will go beyond their boundaries because no one will caution or punish them for it.

you are right, opening the border of course this opens up opportunities for export goods to enter a country so easily, and this will certainly make the price of goods go down with lots of food stocks. many foreigners enter easily and without identity so that they are free to commit crimes

You are right. Many foreigners will enter any country and commit grievous sins and crimes because of free access. So, having a borderless country is not ideal enough.

Firstly, the annoying thing about these visas is that they are often so costly. It's not even like I will sit on their head to travel. I fit disappear reach America if border no dey.

There are good sides to having no borders, but there are more yarn than good to such a move. The downsides outweigh the benefits.

You are right. If there isn´t any border, one can easily disappear to a different country. Though the benefits are good, the downside to it outweighs the benefits as people will come to suffer eventually.

Come to think of what you aunt said, didn't you notice how mad people are just everywhere on the street this days? Imagine how many of them would be added if the borders were to be opened for free movement. I am certain that some countries will deliberately smuggle their mad people into other countries. And we all know what the result of that will be, if it should be discovered.

Opening the borders will grant us access to our dream lives but it will not last, the end result will be disastrous. If care is not taken, war will break out from almost everywhere in the world. I am sure we will not bear with each other for long.

We have diverse cultures, we don't need anyone to tell us that , one man's food is another man's poison, how long do you think another person can tolerate your noise ? Worst of all you are not even a citizen of that country, there would trouble o.

It will be very difficult to even control people, all those issues of birth control will be relegated, this will scatter the plans and growth of many countries.

Hahahaha, then we would have more mad people than the normal ones as there wouldn´t be any breathing space anywhere 🤣 it will be so disastrous because other countries would see it as an opportunity to reduce the number of insane people they are taking care of.

Of course, having a borderless world will mean a dream come true for many people, including us because it is what we desire, but when we are looking at the good parts, let´s not forget the repercussion and what it will cause later because it will come back to affect us dangerously. Thank you, Emreal.

Omo, no be small reduce o, we may end end up sharing our houses and almost every space we have with mad people 🤣

Tor it is better we check both sides before we go ahead and wish for such opportunity. It's just better we remain the way we were with secured borders

I'm sure no one will be left in our country and I think Boko Haram will now occupy our dear country , lol.
Thinking about the cons alone, I don't want it to happen , lol.

Nice entry dear, I enjoyed reading it.

Hehehe. More freedom for Boko haram to take charge and occupy Nigeria completely with no one threatening or chasing them away, instead they will do more harm than good.
