Recognizing something inbuilt in me.
There is a difference between doing something which you are good at it, and not knowing you have a talent you are yet to identify but when you start exhibiting it, you feel awestruck and amazed at knowing you actually can do this.
...This is my story!
“Busayo, you will be good at being a journalist” I still do not know why the person had to tell me this. He was my Dad's friend some years ago.
Another friend of my dad said to my face that I should start singing and recording at the studio because my voice is good. At least he gave his reason for suggesting that career to me. But the truth is, it never occurred to me that I can sing or compose songs because I feel I am not as better as those out there.
Though, sometimes when I sing even in Church, I don't know if my voice should be a soprano or auto because I have this funny way of switching to any part especially when others are singing with me.
I don't know how to maintain my current voice and because of this, I thought I would make blunders even if I go to the studio. Even though I have a talent for composing songs, I can still not trust myself to sing in front of an audience because I will confuse the instrumentalists 😅
There was a day a pianist waited for me to give him a key to sing while leading praise and worship in church, he got frustrated confused along the way that I even felt bad and embarrassed because he couldn't continue helping my ministry in leading others to dance to God. What an experience!
Since then, the coordinator took his time and sacrificed guiding me on how to use the right keys when singing. Till now, I give the wrong keys 😁
I have always loved singing right from time but should I make this a talent? Maybe not! But I still sing to glorify God in my closet and anywhere I find myself.
For teaching? Yea, I can boldly say it's my talent because of the love I have for children. I love to teach little children and because of this, I asked my Dad while in Primary School 4 if I should start a lesson with my two younger siblings. He gladly accepted and that was when I became a teacher in my own space. Age? I still can't remember what age I was then but I should be around 8-10 years.
Also, when I got to secondary school, I was 12 years old and I love to write notes for my colleagues especially when they missed classes and they need to catch up with notes being given to us. This doesn't go free because I get paid in a little way. I was so good at writing stories in big exercise books and would keep them safe. At this time, I never knew writing is my talent and I was so in love with writing stories and would write songs which I composed by myself.
Until a day came and that was when I realized writing is also a talent hidden in me apart from teaching. It was my younger sister who made me recognize it when she requested I start writing for her blog while she paid me in Steem. It was at that time I got to know about the Steemit platform and that was at the age of 15 years.
Ever since then, I have developed a great love for writing and teaching. Both are what have kept me going today. I have taught in two different private schools and I was so loved at both schools. Writing also has brought me this far that I enjoy doing this with passion and it has been an inbuilt talent which my sister made me realize at a younger age.
You have multiple talents, and you are a genius all you should do is work more with people who are in the field, training yourself. Inbuilt talent aren't sufficient to drive us into perfection until when we have a coach. Thanks for sharing I see you are a good writer too.
Yes, we need someone like a coach in training us in that field and with full concentration, we would be better at it.
Thanks for the compliment.
Many of us don't really know that we have been using our talents everyday . I remember how I sought for my talent while in secondary like I was going to kill myself but I didn't reach it. I though it must have to be something that has to do with creativity, so I just gave myself to drawing and other creative stuffs but I was too poor at it. Little did I know that mine was just close to me.
You can still work on your talent on music, the truth is there are some Talents that we need to service very well before we can begin to enjoy them. Imagine how good you will be at music, seeing you can compose songs but you have decide to build it.
Your sister really did a good job my triggering what was inherent in you. If we don't make demands on our talents we might never be able to see the beauty in it or even come across it for life. We can never see the beauty of a thing while is it undergoing process until it is done.
Teaching is one gift I love so much, when you come across a talented teacher, you will never love to miss class. I am so glad you discovered these talents on time. Keep polishing them, you will be amazed were they will soon take you to in life.
We have talent deposited in us but when we fail to identify them, it feels as if we aren't doing anything to our lives. When we start working on it gradually, we would become perfect at the end.
I will just keep singing in my closet while I keep working to be better on my writing and teaching journey.
Thanks, Emreal
This one really touched me, if we don't discover our talents,it actually nothing but the truth that we are not doing anything good with our lives. Without these talents we would only be suffering doin what we ain't good at and We might not be able to affect lives as expected.
It is okay to sing in your closest but advisably, you get an expert to put you through.
You are always welcome ma🙏🥰♥️♥️
I'm not in choir but I know what's up there... For people that know how songs and choir settings are, the shock when a song leader misses his/her key is second to none. Tor, this thing happened in my church last two Sunday and the awkwardness was epic😭.
For writing? Oh yeah, you were born with it🧢
Hehehe! Choir are really trying especially having to use the right key to blend with the instrument.
Thank you 😊
I see you discovered different talent of yours while growing up, that's cool,
Singing is not easy, but those that are natural at it makes it look like a walk in the park.
You are definitely a talented writer, and you developing yourself everyday makes you even better. Well done dear.
Yes, singing is not easy. Those in the line will have something to say about it. Though when they do it, they make it feel like it's so easy but one never know what they have gone through to get to that stage.
Yes, each day, I keep improving myself in writing. Thanks, Glory
REALLY THAT'S SO COOL, AND YOU HAVE REALLY ACTIVATED YOUR TALENT WELL ❤️❤️
Yea, I have and still doing that 😎
That's good then, at leastyou got something old from it
thanks for giving a little bit of your story
It's my pleasure doing that. Thanks for stopping by too.
Multitalented person. Teaching is a talent most especially teaching children, not everyone can do this. Teaching them requires 100% patience and endurance, may God keep on blessing you teachers.
It is funny how what we feel is ordinary is actually a talent. Am glad you knew that your ability to write is a talent. You have such beautiful talents....
Some will keep saying they can't teach children because of the lack of patience and endurance but I found this so easy for me. This is where uniqueness comes in. It's always fun teaching children especially when you are so good at it.
Such feeling definitely is a proof that we are talented. We just have to recognize it on time.
Thank you, Geelocks 😊
Wow, you were so young to recognise your talent and surprisingly you were paid for your efforts too hehe isn't it amazing... I suppose teachers are having best vocabulary and knowledge that's why they better fit in writing block too. Also, writers are decent teachers hehe. Dreemport dropped me here. Have a lovely weekend princess.
I'm glad your sister brought you into writing ♥️ If singing is also your passion, you should keep working at it until you are confident :)
I found your post via Dreemport 🙌
