MY COMMON WAYS OF DE-STRESSING

Stress is common in our everyday lives and it's like pressure being added to you and making it heavy or hard for you to process anything. I don't think there is anyone who doesn't go through stress when you aren't a robot. Even robots also are stressed. Our computers we use daily for our works, they get tired too and if you don't give them space to rest and relax, they will stop working and that could demand some fees from you to repair them.

Every one of us involves in different work and jobs. There is no soft job anywhere even though we majored in different phases of work. Even, a mother who is always multitasking goes through stress because she can never stop working. Taking care of the house, cooking, cleaning the kids' shit, helping her husband etc are things that would surely stress her at the end.

Our body needs enough rest after going through such rigorous work daily. We can't continue depriving ourselves of rest after working all through the day unless we just want to invite sickness. There are numerous ways to do that so we can allow our body to receive the maximum rest it needs. This would help us rejuvenate and reboot our brain system to become creative and active.

One thing about being stressed is that you will end up being frustrated which leads to getting angry, being peevish and before you know it, you are taking some drastic decisions you wouldn't want to take when you are your normal self.

To avoid that, there are ways I use to overcome my stress and make me return to the good side of life. I noticed that whenever I am stressed, I won't concentrate on doing something productive. This would make me get pissed off at every unnecessary things and in the end, it affect me a lot by taking some steps I shouldn't have taken.

Take a walk: Thank God for nature. We are being healed and embraced when we are around nature and this is one of the best ways to overcome stress. After working all day and you return home or if you are this “work from home” person, there is a need to go outside for a walk in Nature. Stretch your body and arm. Sit on the grasses and just focus on the leaves and flowers around you. You will see how fast and powerful it heals you from the stress.

This is what I found out when I travelled home some months ago. I noticed when I am stressed, I tend to transfer my aggression over everyone in the house including my grandma, but whenever this happens, I will just pick a chair and go sit under my favourite cashew tree in our yard and spend a few moments there. This would relieve me and bring my system back to normal.

Trust me, you aren't a normal person again when you are stressed especially having someone come and disturb you at that moment. As a parent, when you are stressed, you tend not to give attention to your kids when they even come over to ask a question, you will find yourself being frustrated.

Take a break: Just like I said, we aren't robots or computers. We are human and we need to pause at a moment to recollect our system back to functioning well. I also found out that when I spend too much time staring at my phone or laptop, I start developing body temperature and my body would be heating while my eyes would start hurting me. At that point, I knew I needed to rest. When I deprive myself of rest, I end up falling sick because I didn't give it time when I should have done it.

I usually take my break each day from my phone and stop looking at the screen to focus on doing other things. While taking my break, things I do is sleep or just close my eyes for some minutes or stretch my body. This works better for me.

Sleep or watch movies/listen to music: This is another way I de-stress too. After working for some hours and doing some chores in the house, I sleep or find an interesting movie to watch and most times, I just hit a song on my phone even though I might end up sleeping off while the music keeps playing. By the time I wake up, all my body parts would have returned to normal and would be able to do other things.

These are a few of how I overcome stress and relief myself. We all need to take a break, pause and do other things to de-stress because we need it. We can't keep working all the time without taking that rest because if you don't, the body will make it rest by force when you are sick. To avoid that, these little methods could save you.

Thanks for reading

Exactly. Especially the inspirational one that speaks about positive. The stress would disappear because your mind will resonate with it at that moment.

I am also doing the same things sister @princessbusayo. Every time that I will feel that my body is getting tired and my mind will start to get messy, I will try to stand up, do an exercise, have a stroll outside or watch entertainment on TikTok. That really helps tbh.

You’re right, princess. We’re not robots, our body parts are not made of woods. Stress is a common thing in human lives. We shouldn’t let stress get the better side of us, we should bounce back harder instead.

I love the coming mechanism that you mentioned. Some of them also works for me. Like watching movies; the best way I cope with stress. When I feel sad or stressed, my best way of getting rid of the feeling is to watch a movie.

Music; personally, there is a connection between music and humans. For most people, music is just like a therapy. Have you ever listened to “Surrender” by Natalie Taylor? That song is my best song ever. The beat, voice and lyrics… absolutely amazing.

Thanks for sharing.

Exactly. When we listen to good music, we would see how our mind would resonate at that moment, taking away the stress from us and seeing things in a positive way.

No, I haven't heard of the song and I am guessing, it would be sweet. I will check it out soon. Thank you for the recommendation.

The importance of taking breaks from our day-to-day workings can never be overemphasized. Because it helps us to relax from all the rigors and come back with a fresher perspective.
Thank you for sharing this with us.

Hello @princessbusayo How are you doing? I have read through and all I can say is your stress management tips are super helpful and also relatable. It is often easy for us to get lost in the grind and forget to do the simple things that actually recharge and and keep us going. I too enjoy going on walks, watching movies and basically just doing whatever brings me peace and relaxation because one thing this life of capitalism is always going to they and do is drive you crazy so it pays to pay attention to ourselves and always give our bodies and minds the rest it deserves.

Keep doing what you do and have a wonderful day.
@dreemport led me here; good to see you're a dreemer too.

Wow! First thing first, I appreciate your beautiful comment on my post. It means a lot for taking that time to read through.

Yes, we might be locked out from focusing on our bodies and minds when we are being carried away with hustle and grinding but nevertheless, we should pay attention to the unusual signs in our bodies because it's important.

Thanks so much and I am glad meeting a fellow Dreemer too 😊🥰
