Interior Dreams: Inspired by a Hotel Stay

Entering the hotel my sister and I lodged in during our vacation a year ago was an experience I will never forget. From the moment we arrived, I couldn't stop marvelling at how impressive the exterior was. Everything about the hotel was just too perfect for me. The walls were designed with a chocolate brick texture (this would be the second time favouriting such cool color painting), giving it a sophisticated look that stood out among the 4 other hotels I have gone to while looking for a good one as suggested by my sister.

The building has a large compound, a beautiful swimming pool and a spacious parking garage. It was clear that this hotel offered more than just a place to stay - it promised an experience.

However, as beautiful as the exterior was, the interior part took my breath away. It felt like walking into a hidden gem. The lobby welcomed us with sleek, cream-coloured walls beautified with minimalist paintings that speak volumes despite their simplicity. The artworks were in neutral tones of black, beige and white, serving as a complement to the space in a calm and serene ambience.

What struck me in awe was the furniture. The modern, low-profile sofas made in soft grey were placed symmetrically in the lounge area, each paired with beige throw pillows. The receptionist's desks caught my eye. It was remarkable, simple yet, stylish, made of smooth wood with a glossy finish complemented by a neat arrangement of stationary and a small vase holding beautiful flowers.

The whole set-up radiated warmth and elegance which made the space feel both luxurious and inviting. Aside from all these, there were the pendant lamps that were hung with a soft golden glow which enhanced the ambience.

While screening the whole environment, I couldn't help but admire the thoughts and efforts that must have gone into designing the space. Every detail, from the wall decor to the polished floors had been meticulously arranged. It takes much patience and creativity to create such an environment. It's not just about aesthetics but about evoking emotions, and this hotel is a place to marvel at.

This love for well-designed spaces is not limited to hotels. I have noticed the same settings in some of the homes I have visited, for example, that of my aunt who once lived in the city of Lagos before relocating to the US.

There's a certain magic in a beautifully decorated space - a story woven into the design. It reflects the personality and taste of the people who live there and showcases the skill of the architects and interior designers behind the scenes.

I don't own a home yet, but when I do, I dream of making it just as breathtaking. I would paint the interior walls cream-coloured (my favourite color from day one) which would reflect natural light more beautifully, pairing it with flowing cream curtains for a seamless look. For furniture, I'd choose clean lines with a modern sectional sofa in a soft beige tone and a cozy clean rug to tie the room together.

Modern minimalist trends inspire me too. Open spaces with fewer walls create a sense of airiness while earthy tones and natural textures like wood and linen add warmth. I would go for a wall-mounted desk to keep things practical and stylish. Not to forget, accent lightings such as LED strips or pendant lamps adding a cozy glow.

Then lastly, I imagine indoor plants from monstera to succulents bringing life and freshness to the room. I want a home that is not just functional but also a reflection of elegance and simplicity.
