Digital Escapes: My Go-To Apps for Unwinding

It would be a bad thought not to ever think of taking some time off to unwind after working all day throughout the week, month and year because it isn't even possible. If you don't rest, you will break down when the body eventually stops functioning well and this would make you spend more in the hospital than actually channelling the money for something else.

The world is going crazy and everyone keeps chasing the rat race, trying to meet up with deadlines, leaving home to beat the traffic and at the end of the day, we feel so overwhelmed and whacked up. We all need that moment away from those tasks, files on the table, bosses who keeps ringing and threatening, wanting his or her job done as soon as possible, not being considerate etc. All thanks to the digital world where we can do a lot of things to unwind and feel refreshed.

So, in the whirlwind of our bustling lives, finding time to breathe, relax and recharge can feel like discovering a hidden oasis in the desert. As the chaos in the day retreats, we all long for that perfect escape to recharge our minds and ease our souls. For me, this sanctuary lies in the digital world where I have gotten hold of some trusted apps that can transform stress into serenity and bring a touch of tranquillity to my routine every day.

Here are a few of my go-to apps that work the magic and help me get restored to functioning mode after unwinding. I call them my digital doorway to peace and relaxation.

NETFLIX

Many would agree that Netflix has proven to be one of the best social apps where one finds interesting, entertaining and informative movies that could get us asking for more. There are lots of videos that make sense and help us learn one or two things from it. When I am exhausted from the day's work and need something to cool my head down, making me feel tranquillity, I resort to checking for the perfect movie that relates to my mood at that moment, downloading or better still streaming online while I lie down or just lay my back against the wall and enjoy the fun in it.

SPOTIFY

I don't think I can ever stop opening this app because it has loads of songs for different moods, just type in the search button for the kind of songs you want and you get it instantly. Ever since I came across this app, I do not need to download songs to my gallery but to listen from this app while I get entertained by different artists that soothe my soul. Many times, when I am so exhausted and do not need to work myself with another task, I feel lost in the world of music while my earpiece is being plucked to my ears, making me feel the vibe of different genres.

....and yes, I listen to podcasts too. One of my favourite podcasts is this particular one that talks about women and their value. I always look out for their new episode being released and would listen as I sit or lie down. In this process, I enjoy my rest and feel rejuvenated back to life.

YOUTUBE

One reason that makes me choose YouTube as one of the unwinding apps is the short clips that make me laugh so hard, helping me to release those tensions in my mind and be relieved and calm. There are lots of funny shorts on YouTube that make me keep scrolling up more, and many times, rewatching a particular short as many times as I want. This app has also been a good one to ease the stress, relieve me of the overwhelming feeling in me and help me stay relaxed for as long as I want. At this point, I don't even mind how much data it drains because, of course, I will surely renew if I don't want to feel bored for the rest of my life. Hahaha.

PINTEREST

This is another social media app where you get loads of how-to, tutorials, motivations, styles of dresses etc. What I do mostly on this app is check out for the latest gown styles and other times, check for videos on how to tie headscarves. Most of my clothes that are sown were all ideas gotten from this app and I love how I rock my headscarf when going to church and that's because this app gives me what I want. When I need to relax and unwind, this is one app that keeps me busy scrolling up to different dressing styles and smiling within me and when I am done unwinding, I leave the app and would have saved some items that caught my attention.

These are my go-to apps to unwind, bringing me peace and relaxation. I have so much enjoyed the benefits derived from opening these apps and that is, giving me enough tranquillity and helping me scale through worries that may want to occupy my mind.

Wait a minute. Sarah Jakes Roberts has an episode with Matthew Hussey? I didn't know that. They are actually two of my favourite people to listen to. Anyway, we have similar favorite apps to unwind with. I just learned about how wide Pinterest actually is, though, but I really never use it.

Very well put together, Princess.

I don't think many people uses Pinterest that much, but it's a good app for a lot of things to learn and enjoy. Thank you, Jay.

You have nice ways of unwinding! I also use these apps to relax as well. It is very needed sometimes, all work and no play makes jack a dull boy.
