Creating the moments of anniversaries.

I tried thinking of an anniversary that would be happening this year but got none as I already celebrated my birthday in January which means I would be waiting for the coming year to celebrate another which is also an anniversary I always look forward to, as it's always a mark of another beginning in my life. A time of reflection and knowing that I keep ageing and also should start acting as one who is mature and embracing life in its full force.

I am not married yet, I would have said it's an anniversary I should look forward to, neither do I have any specific celebration of mine except for my siblings and Dad whose birthdays are the next on the calendar.

My big sister who is the firstborn will be celebrating her birthday anniversary this month, on the 27th precisely and it counts as one I am excitedly looking forward to. This is a birthday that I always love to witness and celebrate with my sister who has been an amazing person and love to us. This is the time my siblings and I come around to do something surprising for her as a way to show how grateful we have been in the past years and how she has carried the family's responsibilities on her head. I could call her my hero because she deserves it. Every year, we try our best to make her happy and make her realize that she has the best siblings ever to count on.

What does this anniversary even mean to me?

It means a lot! A whole lot because I know how challenging it is for a lady to be a breadwinner, especially in a family where all issues are sent to her to settle and no one ever understands what she has to go through many times to make sure others are well taken care of. Many times when she explains what she is going through to us, I wonder why things had to be this way especially when life doesn't give one a chance to be on their own, have time for themselves but keep listening to demands here and there.

The reason why I look forward to this birthday anniversary is to thank her for being the best and focused lady. If she had gone the wayward way then, we wouldn't be enjoying the amazing generosity and help she has been rendering to the family. Imagine having to shift all responsibilities on me because someone who is my big sis got her life ruined in the past? I guess I might have run away, blocked my lines to settle my head first so I don't get knocked out with demands every time at the expense of my comfort. Lol

She deserves everything we do for her. We may not have enough, but my sister and I are cooking up a surprise gift as a token for her to use in taking herself out for a treat while she takes pictures and sends them to us.

Sometimes it's hard to think of a gift to give her because we feel she is big and can afford anything she wants, this is why most times, we don't tell her what we are planning to do for her because she would want to refuse it, thinking she isn't supposed to collect anything from her younger siblings since she does the large part for us.

On that day, we would send the money into her account, then express our heartfelt gratitude like an epistle to her while also understanding our motive and intention of doing that to her. We would make her see the reason why she shouldn't refuse our surprise gift to her because it is joint planning and it's because she is a dearest and true sister to her siblings. She is our mom and confidant and throughout the years, she has stood strong with a strong heart.

She is a strong lady who never gives up. Some people still do not believe how strong and dedicated she could be as a computer engineer who channels her energy to different digital jobs. The last time I visited her, I saw my sister with two laptops as she was working on programming and trying to solve some codings given to her as a project at the company where she works. I saw how she was sweating and tired, and all I did that day was to keep staring at her and praying for her. I believe she would feel so loved on her birthday and that is our utmost happiness too; to see her happy and knowing fully well how her siblings love her so much.

This is one anniversary I am looking forward to. Also, in April, it's my Dad's, sister's and brother's birthdays. These are amazing anniversaries too which would come up on the 28th, 29th and 30th of the month. To make it easier for me, I am already saving up for what to give them so it doesn't weigh me down on that day. It would be a lovely month that would make me appreciate another life on their behalf while doing what I have to do and making them feel loved and excited.
