One of the most distinctive characteristics of the subfamily Tridactylinae is its ability to produce loud, high-pitched sounds by rubbing its wings. This behavior is known as stridulation, and is used by males to attract females and determine their territory. The sounds produced by katydids can vary in pitch and frequency, depending on the species.
