Odds and Ends — 29 October 2022

In yesterday’s post, I had an image created in DeepDreamGenerator’s newish “text prompt” artificial intelligence image creator that used a random innocuous sentence as the prompt.

Since then, I’ve gone over to the dark side and did a couple more, this time using rather dark #fiftywords stories that I wrote a while back.

Frank “Lemons” Lemonski’s hands, ankles, and mouth were duct taped. His face was white with fear.
A wood chipper right out of “Fargo” was flanked by two gangsters.
Enver Kelmendi, new boss of the south side, stepped back to avoid the spray.
“Alright boys, when you have Lemons, make lemonade.”

The story yielded this disturbing image:

The other story,

Raoul was tired of Veronique always yanking his chain. “Don't come back without some food for the kids” she’d spat.
Storm sewers in the old part of town had the biggest ones. His bullet caught the rat behind its left ear. The children in the orphanage would eat well tonight.

yielded this:

Cryptocurrency, Investing, Money, Economy, and Debt:

Welcome to Hell, Elon

You fucked up real good, kiddo.
Twitter is a disaster clown car company that is successful despite itself, and there is no possible way to grow users and revenue without making a series of enormous compromises that will ultimately destroy your reputation and possibly cause grievous damage to your other companies.
I say this with utter confidence because the problems with Twitter are not engineering problems. They are political problems. Twitter, the company, makes very little interesting technology; the tech stack is not the valuable asset. The asset is the user base: hopelessly addicted politicians, reporters, celebrities, and other people who should know better but keep posting anyway. You! You, Elon Musk, are addicted to Twitter. You’re the asset. You just bought yourself for $44 billion dollars.

Top Prosecutor Brought on Mar-a-Lago Documents Case

One of the Justice Department’s most experienced national security prosecutors has joined the team overseeing the intensifying investigation of classified documents at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home and private club.
National security law experts say prosecutors appear to have amassed evidence in the case that would meet some of the criteria for bringing charges against the former president — an unprecedented action that they said likely would only happen if the Justice Department believes it has an extremely strong case.”
“>David Raskin, who served for many years as a senior federal prosecutor in New York City, and more recently has worked as a prosecutor in Kansas City, Mo., has been quietly assisting in the investigation into Trump and his aides… Raskin is considered one of the most accomplished terrorism prosecutors of his generation.

Key Proud Boys Co-Conspirator Pleads Guilty

An accused key co-conspirator who longtime former Proud Boys chairman Henry “Enrique” Tarrio allegedly said proposed storming the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, has pleaded guilty in a deal with U.S. prosecutors.
Details of the plea emerged in a pretrial hearing as the government ratchets up pressure against Tarrio and four other defendants who face trial in December on a charge of seditious conspiracy.
