Suffer Now, Smile Later

If there's one thing I've learnt in this short life that I've lived, it is that it is way better to suffer now and enjoy later, rather than to enjoy now and suffer later... Now one would think this is common sense, but I've seen a lot of youths go for the latter option and that always baffles me.

Funny enough, I happen to be one of those people who had gone for that option in the past and I'm still paying the price, even till date, although I feel I can honestly say that mine was due to ignorance.

You see, there was an incident that happened to my dad when he had gone to visit a friend of his and got chased by a dog at their house. While he was running to safety, he had slipped and landed on his hand. Unfortunately, that fall had dislocated his arm and although he got it fixed, he would occasionally feel the pains on that arm from time to time.

Well fast forward to some time later, I too had gotten involved in an incident (that was clearly due to me being stupid), and had dislocated my left arm. During the time of the fall, I had felt much pain on my left arm compared to my right, and it became obvious that was the arm that got more impact when it got swollen by the time I had to go back home from school.

When I got home and my mom had taken me to the lady who was going to help with my arm, they had asked if I felt any pain on my right arm and I had told them no, I had lied because the pain there was nothing compared to the one on the left.

And now, fast forward to some years later, just last night, while I was trying to sleep, I started to feel some excruciating pain on my right arm. This isn't the first time I'm experiencing this pain and based off of what my dad told me, based on his own experience, it wouldn't be the last either.

If only I had known, I would have told the truth that many years ago and just endured the pain then. If I had done that, I wouldn't be suffering now.

It's the consequences of taking things lightly and I think all of us done such kind of thing in our past. Whatever, it's a lesson and your already learned it.
