Nothing As Powerful as Giving
I remember some few years ago when the young me was in church, listening to the preacher preach the word of God. I remember him making a statement that left me confused, the preacher had said that most times, giving is far more powerful than praying. Now for a young lad like me who grew up in a church where majority of the time, all we did there was fighting the devil and asking the devil to die by fire everyday with our prayers, I had thought that maybe the preacher had no idea what he was talking about.
And fast forward to some few nights ago, around some minutes past 3am, I was struggling to sleep as usual and decided to go on YouTube, if I was going to be up, then I was going to entertain myself while at it. I had stumbled upon this podcast video where a Nigerian comedian was being interviewed.
Majority of the things said where said using pidgin English, so it might be a little bit hard to understand if you don't speak or hear pidgin English.
In the interview, the guest had said a lot of things but one thing that he kept on repeating was how much of a giver he was and how positively that has impacted his life. He said a lot of things on giving that for a minute it felt like I was back in church, listening to the preacher all over again. That interview made me understand why it's really important to give and how instant the blessings of being a giver comes and then something crazy happened.
It was almost as if God was speaking to me through this people and he decided to show me an example of how important it is to give. Earlier today, I had gone outside to sit and just get some fresh air. I was with some friends and they all were having conversations, I sat down there and said nothing as usual, but then something got my attention while I was there.
I had looked downstairs and had seen this man selling some garden eggs (I think it's also called aubergines). He had a lot of it on a wheelbarrow and whenever someone wanted to buy some, he would stop to sell to them before riding away. While this man was pushing his wheelbarrow filled with garden eggs, someone had asked him to please give her one and he had immediately stopped and handed her one before continuing to push his wheelbarrow.
But before he could even take two steps, a guy who was seated not to far away from the lady had called the man and asked him to sell some garden eggs to him. Now I don't know why that podcasts I saw some few days immediately came to mind but it did and I remember hearing a voice in my head telling me that the only reason that guy had stopped to buy some of that garden egg was because the man selling had been kind enough to give the lady one when she asked, so guess what I did.
I had immediately rushed downstairs to go get myself some garden eggs too. If this man was getting blessed for being a giver, I wouldn't mind being used by God to bless him some more. And it didn't stop there, just as I finished buying and was about to leave, someone else stopped to get some too and I remember smiling as I walked away, being marveled by how powerful giving can be.
Giving has so many good perks associated with it that goes beyond the human eye. Thus, God can surely manifest blessings upon any soul who is kind to his fellow humans.
It was nice of you to appreciate the goodness of the garden eggs seller. I'm sure he will also carry such a good heart forward.
If I didn't know how powerful it was before, now I do.
Wait ohh...
It's now I'm beginning to think this thing deep
Since childhood we've been binding firing the devil to die and till today... Haaa😄😄
That was on a lighter note... I have also benefited from the act of giving and all what you said about giving here is really true because that's just how it works, there are several stories to prove it right. The more you give the more you receive. It's really good that you allowed yourself to be a source of blessing to the garden egg seller also...
The Devil has refused to die 😂😂
But yeah, giving works a lot of magic and it's one thing I plan on doing a lot of henceforth.
Even the Christian bible put it clearly " it's more blessed to give"
There is a whole lot of blessing associated with it. People ask why do people that don't believe in God prosper a lot more than even them that believe. It's not far fetched, most of them engage in a lot of charities and kindness. I know first hand what giving can do. I try as much as I can to be one and it has impacted my life profoundly.
You're not wrong about the unbelievers prospering because of their giving habits, I just never looked at it from that angle.
