Difficulties Sleeping

avatar

About some few months ago, I used to be that guy who would go to bed before it was even 10pm. I remember there had been a time where I had made plans to take a little nap but ended up sleeping from 5pm till the next morning. Apparently those were good times, I just didn't know it then.

I only realized how much of a gift it is to be able to sleep whenever you want to when I started having some sleeping difficulties. You see I had initially thought this was a minor thing and was probably going to go away with time, but I had been wrong. It's been about a week now (if not more) that I can't sleep unless it's 3am.

The first few days where I had stayed awake till it was 3am, I didn't think much about it because I haven't really had a case of insomnia ever before in my life (at least not this serious), so I didn't pay much attention to it. I even spent half the night on tiktok, having fun while waiting for sleep to come. But now that it is starting to become consistent, I'm worried.

I'm currently in my final year in school and having insomnia is not something I plan on dealing with because going late to bed, means waking up from bed late, which also means missing classes. It's bad.

I had taken my worries online, not to Google but to a WhatsApp group where I had a couple of friends and many of them suggested many things like listening to certain songs, taking certain drugs, or even reading the bible (the idea is to bore myself to sleep). One has even sent me this audio of a rainfall because according to him, listening to sound of raindrop helps relax the muscle and would make me fall asleep.

I have tried all of that and they did help, just not as much as I wanted it to. Well to be honest, I haven't really tried "everything" because someone had also suggested I had s*x whenever I was finding it hard to sleep and I had wondered if that would be every night? Seeing how the insomnia currently happens all the time.

One last advice I had gotten from the group was to try and workout at night. The idea is to exercise and tire out my body so that it has no choice but to just shutdown and sleep. I plan on doing that tonight but I also want to know if you guys have any solutions to insomnia.. It would be of great help to me because I don't think I honestly can work out every night just to sleep.

Well, I think it depends on your age. My mum complained of this to our family doctor yesterday and he said that she has gotten to the age where she will be finding it difficult to sleep.

If that's the case, then I shouldn't be having any problems sleeping, I'm still very much young.
