Different People, different path
I was on YouTube last night watching some videos that had to be with people showing random act of kindness (because for some unknown reasons, I couldn't sleep last night) when I saw a video of a judge who recognized one of the inmates in her courtroom to be a classmate of hers when she was in high school. She asked him if he was the one and he confirmed it while crying probably because while his life took a wrong turn, hers took a right one and she ended up becoming a judge and him a criminal.
The video just sort of reminded me of my life today. I'm not judging or condemning anyone but during high school I had a lot of friends, people I had no idea will take the path I noticed they've taken today.
You see, I grew up in a ghetto (though it wasn't a typical ghetto), that was where I schooled until my dad decided it was time for us to move out of that place and we did. But every of my friend or almost all of them that I left behind and are still there today has either become an internet fraudster (or a Nigerian prince) or something worse and this keeps me wondering, what would have happened to me if my dad had not taken us out of there the time he did.
The truth is I've always been that kid who was fascinated by the internet and was always looking for legit ways to make money online but what would have happened if I had not seen those ways and was still with my highschool friends, I probably would have turned out like most of them now, doing nothing other than chatting with strangers all day while impersonating to be someone else in other to scam them off their money.
I remember how my dad used to lament about that place whenever he was home from work. He will say that that place wasn't a good environment to raise a child and I didn't understand what he meant until we left and then I saw what the people I left behind had become and that was when I realized that my dad moving us away from that place was him trying to change our path for good and thank God it worked.
I guess what I'm just trying to say is that one decision can change someone's life, either for good or for bad.
@prayzz it's not the place, it's the choice you make. I think if you have not moved from that place, you won't be doing all that fraudster stuff but maybe something different. It is my opinion and it all depends on the situation. Thank you for sharing your views!
That is also true but why I also feel the place has a huge role to play is because of peer pressure. If I had not gone far away from those friends, they probably would have pressurized me into doing fraud with them

Getting out of that place is one best decisions your dad has done. The environment plays a great role in determining what kind of person you will be. If you were surrounded by fraudsters, probably you will get influenced by them.
