A Childhood Phobia
If there's one thing I love about the weekends, it's the fact that everyone gets to be relaxed and are in the mood to have fun. This Sunday wasn't any different, it had rained a bit this morning so my plans to go to church had been canceled due to the rain but thankfully, it had stopped raining a little bit after 12pm and my friends had showed up at my home.
The plan had been to have an indoor boys day but somewhere along the line, we had decided that staying at home was boring and we wanted to do something different, so we did. We had all gotten ready and went out to have fun. But you see, today's post isn't about my outing, it's about realizing that I still had a phobia that I thought was long forgotten.
You see, ever since I was a kid, my parents have always warned us about the dangers of getting on a motorcycle. And this is because you're almost guaranteed to get injured on a motorcycle the moment it gets involved in an accident because there's nothing protecting you from the crash.
So I always avoided getting on one of those, especially after the daughter of a family friend got involved in an accident where she couldn't walk for months and had to get her bones chopped off with a saw due to the fact that they were growing in the wrong direction from a failed surgery.
Knowing all of that turned the whole thing into a phobia for me, to the extent where I tend to hold the driver of the bike very tight whenever I find myself in a situation where getting on a motorcycle is the only means of transportation available.
Luckily for me, I've had lesser reasons to get on a bike for a while now and silly me thought that the whole phobia thing was no more until I got on a bike today on our way out. The whole thing was very embarrassing as I held on to the bike man while pleading with him to take it easy and not put on any more speed.
All of my friends were definitely entertained and surprised by my entire display because none of them knew about this fear until now. Anyways, I'm happy to say that we got to our destination safely and I'm having a nice time, while hoping that they all forget about that whole drama.... Although I know that is next to impossible, they will hunt me with this for the rest of my life.

If you want to come out from the phobia, you need to ride on bike more and more and I believe within a short time you can overcome the phobia.
That's the thing though, do I want to get over that phobia??
That's the million dollar question.. Because I hate things that reminds me of my mortality.
