Rides in My Games!
Hello and Welcome back to my blog!
This Week's Contest theme by the Gaming Photography Community is Rides of Video Games and for this, I have some interesting modes of transport from two of my favourite games. You can guess the first game from the banner. It is No Man's Sky, a game about space travel and spaceships. It has many of them and there are other unorthodox means of transport on the surfaces of planets.
There are a lot of Rovers which are called Exocrafts in the game. I build just this one called the Roamer and sometimes use it to roam around the planet's surface. It is not as fast as the spaceships but it's cool. You can upgrade it to fit more weapon or utility modules and it acts like a good storage too. So, there are a lot of uses for keeping this with your explorations.
But nothing can match the speed and strength of the ships. They come in various models and categories with unique strengths and weakness attached to each model. The first one you get is this simpler model.
As you improve in the game and gain more money you can buy ships from other NPCs. My only purchase was this S-Class ship that is not aesthetically pleasing but is a sturdy contender and does very well in space fights.
But the weird forms of transport in this game are the aliens you can domesticate and make your pets. You can use them in a variety of ways, they breed and give you eggs so you can do your funny experiments and make the offspring stronger by changing the genes slightly or you can just harvest them for resources like milk and food.
But my favourite use case is using them as rides.
They are slow but loyal. You can tame a lot of them on many planets. And once tamed you can use them on different planets too (no idea how they survive on a completely different planet with completely different living conditions in a different star system. But I don't question game logic at this point...xD)
You can get some flying/floating ones too. (You are telling me this fat guy is flying by just flapping its small wings? Ah damn, I talked about logic again...my bad).
Not just the organic lifeforms but some inorganic (?) ones too. There were a lot of robotic creatures like this roaming around on this planet. I rode this and before making another friend I was attacked by a sentinel bot army so I had to get off of this one.
But the first creature that I made my friend was on my first planet. It was a frozen planet with extremely low temperatures. And this guy seems to be having a blast with his family. Sometimes I wonder if aliens are real, what are they eating. Animal and plant-based food like us or just getting energy directly from the sun or other sources? That's a question for another post.
I think I talked enough about Aliens in this post so let me come back to earth and talk about some conventional forms of transport. I play theHunter: Call of the Wild a lot (what a shocker...right?) and there is just one mode of transport there to help cover the vast open world. It is an ATV (All Terrain Vehicle) which is a DLC that you can buy. I recommend it a lot if you are playing that game. It makes your life much easier, especially at the start when you don't have enough of the map unlocked.
I have been playing this game for a long time now and I still don't have all the outposts unlocked so sometimes I have to use the ATV to cover long distances.
It would be better if that thing could go faster than 40-50 Kmph but it is still significantly faster than walking or running.
I have taken it to all kinds of terrains, from the mountain tops to the depths of the caves and for the most part, it works pretty well.
Some of the bugs are hilarious too. Once in a while, if you flip this vehicle, the game ejects you with so much force that you can end up hundreds of meters away and you will be dead on impact with the ground. It rarely happens though.
Well, there are other games with cars like NFS and Rocket League. But the post is getting longer. So, I will end it here.
