As you said, being poor does not even remotely translate to being sad. I have seen some of the poorest people living with smiles all the time. Sure, they will be much better equipped to deal with life if they have more money.

I remember seeing a video of the Mumbai society apts where people shared everything. The one room apartment and still happy.
